Given Governor-elect Phil Murphy's campaign pledge to legalize marijuana in his first 100 days, municipalities are preparing for cannabis businesses on Main Street as early as next summer. ... "There are going to be retail outlets that look more like an Apple Store or Whole Foods store," said Scott Rudder, President of the Board of Directors for New Jersey CannaBusiness Association. "It comes down to what a town wants to have." Analysts believe New Jersey could be a $1 billion market for recreational marijuana.

They're not doing it out the goodness of their hearts.

They need the revenue. Jersey is fast going broke.

I am not a user, but I would rather see MJ use than alcohol and opiods.

You should give it a shot.

wow, Phil Murphy is breaking the hearts and financial security of DEA agents and local Narcs in New Jersey who need to lock up politically active black people and take away their voting rights.

Oh no, don't worry about that. Legalization in Colorado didn't punt a dent in black drug arrests. If anything, it just lets police focus more resources on it.

www.npr.org

"A Colorado Health Department survey found there wasn't a huge racial difference in who smokes pot. But the marijuana arrest rate for white 10- to 17-year-olds fell by nearly 10 percent from 2012 to 2014, while arrest rates for Latino and black youths respectively rose more than 20 percent and more than 50 percent."

"Keith Humphreys, who studies drug policy at Stanford University, says Jackson's explanation for the youth arrests mostly rings true. "Police do patrol more in neighborhoods of color, and they also get more calls to respond in neighborhoods of color," he says. And when police show up and find kids illegally in possession of marijuana, they're obligated to do something about it."

I am always prepared for recreational marijuana.

It's practically my motto.

Be Prepared.

For recreational marijuana!

There is a philly.com article discussing potential opponents to this, namely a Patrick Kennedy who is supposed to be appointed to Murphy's transition team.

I disagree with donnerboy, hope for legalization but be prepared for no changes.

New Jersey is preparing for recreational marijuana. Emergency supplies are being routed from the Federal Dorito Reserve in fleet of painted VW mini-buses as we speak and should arrive if a few days. POtential shortages may occur as the convoy IS scheduled to cross through Colorado.

Should Dorito supplies run out, New Jersey television stations have been instructed to begin a looped airing of Pink Floyd's The Wall until the crisis passes.

Well! I appreciate that. But, I am not fooling myself either. I am aware that a small minded hateful Effing Dotard could convince a bunch of his Hateful Morons that they alone own this country and he's gonna send em here to " Take It Back."

And I wouldn't put it past him to be stupid enough to try.

This is how you know trump's concern for the opioid epidemic is as fake as every other lie he spews.

Opioid deaths drop 25% in areas with legal weed.

But trump's AG says weed LEADS to opioids and has no medicinal value.

If you are a trump supporter who smokes pot, you should go turn yourself in immediately. Put your money where your MAGA hat is.
