Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

As bad as the overall outcome of Virginia's recent election was for Republicans, there was one facet of the vote that raises special alarm for the party's future. That's the performance of young voters, who came out in historic numbers and overwhelmingly cast their ballots for the Democratic candidate for governor, Ralph Northam. While Republicans have been wrestling with an aging demographic for some time, analysts say the unpopular actions of President Trump are pushing away a new generation. "One of the biggest challenges facing the Republican Party in Virginia and nationwide is that the Republican Party has become toxic to a lot of young voters," said Bob Holsworth, a longtime Virginia political scientist. "I think Trump has exacerbated a trend that was emerging, and it has become very problematic."

No ----.

He represents everything they view as evil...greed, excess, selfishness, big banksters, wall street, the 1%, etc.

He sold the lower middle class a pack of lies to get elected and has delivered on none.

He will deliver on none of his promises.

His healthcare reform would neither cover more or cost less, but that did not stop him from blatantly lying and saying it did.

His tax scam will give nothing to the poor and middle class and him and Pence are blatantly lying that it is great for them.

This is the single most corrupt administration the US has ever seen. More corrupt than Nixon which wasn't easy.

More corrupt than Nixon, more inept than Bush II.

That's the thing with progress; by definition it cannot be stopped.

They'd better start showing up. They're the ones who will inherit R deficits and an environment screwed up by R greed.

.... and here I just thought that the VA election just showed that Blue States pretty much tended to elect dems/libbies the majority of the time.

Virginia, birthplace of eight Presidents, and once part of Dixie, is a blue state?

Maybe there is hope for our Republic after all.

I'm hoping they will show up next November because the realization did set in that they'll have to deal with the awfulness of a government entirely run by the GOP far longer than the half dead average Faux News watcher.

Not a problem really. Just a positive trend.

There were plenty of young men at the nazi rally in charlottesville.

Trump supporters are either rich ------, senile old foxwatchers, or young dumbasses.

Wrong.
He will deliver on some promises to Putin and his other sponsors.

-Regardless, considering that only three of the last 10 governors were Republican, in that very blue state, even of Trump were not in office the odds favored a dem governor being elected.

Not many if you consider how many young men live within a few hundred miles of where that rally took place.

But for every one with the balls to go march for white supremacy, there were probably thousands who agreed but didn't want to march for it. The point is, america is getting dumber. And racism, trump support, and dumbness go hand in hand.
America is now officially dumb enough to elect an obvious con man. That's the true tragedy of 2016. Trump will be gone in 1-7 years. The dumbness that elected him will not.

What, that's suddenly happening now? Hmmmmmmmm....been hearing of the 'liberal education indoctrination' canard for decades. And only NOW it's started to have an effect?

That argument is quickly losing it's teeth.

It's what anyone other than a righty calls "educated". No wonder the GOP wants to make it as hard as possible to get a good one.

Ahh. Another anti-science anti-education yahoo. You will go far in Fantasyland. Did you drink your Brawndo today? It's got electrolytes!

And looking at Trump's favorite map with all the "red" states that voted for him, your theories of "indoctrination" do not seem to be working very well.

The only thing they have working very well is voter suppression. Nothing else they do is working very well (see Kansas).
