Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

According to a report at Politico, aides to embattled President Donald Trump feed him data from internal polls that don't reflect public sentiment in order to keep his spirits up -- although some White House insiders call the numbers "delusional." Like many presidents, Trump is fascinated with how he is perceived by the public and has been know to forward polls showing support from the American public to members of Congress to keep them in line with his agenda. The report notes that White House aides show Trump polls designed to make him feel good, according to insiders, with many of those same polls weighted towards voters who cast ballots for him in 2016 or have made their enthusiasm for Trump known. According to New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, a former Trump adviser, Trump is obsessed with his polling numbers as if he is still running for office.

According to New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, a former Trump adviser, Trump is obsessed with his polling numbers as if he is still running for office.

"You know, I thought that he'd be a little less in campaign mode than he's been. I think he's never really kind of gotten out of campaign mode and I thought he might," Christie explained. "I guess it's his judgment that that's what he has to do but that's surprised me a little bit."

... although some White House insiders call the numbers "delusional." ...

The poll numbers are the only thing the aides call delusional?

If a subordinate lies to the boss about his approval rates be/she should be fired.
If the POTUS can't deal with the facts and accept reality be should resign.

Knowingly feeding The POTUS false data must be a firing offense.

It is a form of manipulation which should be a federal crime.

FFS previous Presidents have faced massive economic failures, worldwide bloodshed, and civil wars without needed to be given BS figures to make them feel better.

What a pathetic dotard we have in the white house.

For over a decade the only good news FDR got to hear was his own accomplishments, With clear eyes Lincoln accepted that he was leading a force that would kill millions, and JFK was ready to have a nuclear war rather than become a subject of the Soviet empire.

The Presidency is no place for an old man who requires lies to be happy in order to function.

The republican party and republican media made its base so stupid and deluded that they elected a man child. Good job.

Trump's massive ego needs to be spoon fed? How pathetic can it get?

Not good. He responds to the people. He needs to hear them.

BRUCE

The election is over. Trump doesn't have to hear or respond to the people and never intended to right from the beginning.

"The People" have been had, suckered, hornswoggled, duped, deceived, tricked, and conned by a blithering idiot who convinced other blithering idiots that he was the answer to all their woes.

The tragedy is that about 36% of this country is inhabited by people who are so easily fooled into voting against their own best interests ~ in spite of the historical evidence during the campaign that Trump never gave a damn (and still doesn't) about anybody but himself ~ and most certainly not about THEM. And now the piper wants to be paid.

With the amount of TV that Trump is reportedly watching, there is no way that he is insulated from external polls. That he chooses not to believe them and chooses instead to believe internal polls demonstrates willful ignorance.

FEDUP

No surprise there. Willful ignorance is the stock in trade of his base.

If he believes it, so do they.

You guys are wrong about one thing. He doesn't have to worry about the electorate, he only has to worry about a few donors.

He knows he manipulated the stupid people once, he can do it again. I, for one, believe him on that issue.

He did successfully trick them once and he can do it again, because we are afraid to fight them. We don't want to get dirty.

If true this is actually pretty funny in a pathetic sort of way.

The pathetic part isn't trump, it's that his party is allowing this to continue.

Trump is an indictment of every single republican in power.

This is how they get him to support absolutely ridiculous things. They convince him he is doing well and this will make people happy with him.
