Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe seemed almost untouchable for much of his nearly four-decade rule. Shrewd and ruthless, he stayed in power despite advancing age, growing opposition, international sanctions and the dissolving economy of a once-prosperous nation.

Now that it seems to finally be here, the abrupt end of the Mugabe era is launching Zimbabwe into the unknown.

When Robert Mugabe became the president of the country formerly known as Rhodesia, it was one of the most prosperous countries in Africa. In an effort to reverse the racist history of that country, he drove it to destitution.

The military stormed the state news station, replaced the anchor with a guy in uniform, to tell the populace there was in fact no coup going on what so ever.
