Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Donna Brazile seems confused. In her new book Hacks, released this Tuesday, and in an excerpt in Politico Magazine published last week, the former interim chair of the Democratic National Committee wrote that she searched for proof that the 2016 Democratic presidential primary was "rigged" for Hillary Clinton over Bernie Sanders, and said, "By September 7 ... I had found my proof and it broke my heart." Yet on Tuesday, Brazile appeared on CBS News, where she said the contest was fair. "I found no instances that the party rigged the process, and I wanted to make sure Bernie and his supporters understood that," she said. The contradiction is so clear that even Chris Cillizza was able to spot it.

What brings Clinton and Sanders partisans together is a frustration with Brazile's decision to publish the book now. Brazile's passion has sometimes led to her to say things that make other Democrats groan -- her first national brush with fame came when, as a deputy field director to Michael Dukakis in the 1988 presidential race, she called on George H.W. Bush to address rumors of infidelity and was sacked.

Many Democrats view her airing of dirty laundry now as similarly self-defeating, and her press tour -- including her flip-flop on rigging and an appearance on Tucker Carlson's show Wednesday -- as self-promotion that hurts the party and overshadows the Democratic critiques of the GOP tax plan and wins at the ballot box. The Clinton campaign is hardly eager for further dissection of its missteps last year, but even though Brazile's book is sympathetic to Sanders's interpretation of the race, Longabaugh wasn't enjoying the hubbub.

"The party needs to move on beyond this," he sighed.

Sure heir apparent Hillary can write a book, but not Donna ...

This whole putting Donna on the cross strikes me as kinda racist .... I see no reason the women can't write abook about her horrible experience under the screws of the CarlyleClintonCashCaravan....

Donna Brazile is much more concerned with promoting Donna Brazile than the Democratic Party. I've never liked her, never really respected her. Hillary Clinton put her name out there and took the risk to run for President, what risk did Donna Brazile ever take? Party insider who didn't like it when she was rejected as head of DNC due to her own incompetence. Then she goes on Tucker Carlson's show???? Unbelievable!!! Good bye Donna, you're Democratic Party history now. Hope you sell some books cuz you're going to need the money.

Burn the heretic! How dare she cash in on something she experienced if it makes Dems look bad?!

it reveals a cnn pundit who cheated during the debate and was given the dnc chair seat for about as long as Manafort was Trump's campaign manager.

It reveals that only books authored by Hillary trash talking everyone and everything for her loss (which is her taking responsibility, BTW) are tolerated. That certainly was fine and went a long way in healing the rift in the Dem party largely created by Queen Hillary and her sycophants' in response to someone having the gumption to leave her unchallenged.

I guess someone like her isn't supposed to write books. Right, racists and misogynists?

#6 I knew most Dems see her as past but the right seems to think she's still calling all the shots.

So how exactly did you fix that?

#9 Except that the Dems are slamming Brazile for slamming Hillary. The right didn't bring her up, Donna did.

She didn't slam Hillary as much as she slammed the DNC. That she is slamming the DNC is the issue. It's pure self-promotion.

And you'd be saying the same if it was a Republican doing this about the RNC or Trump. Or you'd just not post at all.

God I abhor saying this. This will probably kill me but you're absolutely correct.

Excuse me while I vomit.

I advocate going back to being a family. Not everyone has to agree but we should show each other some respect.

We should discuss all of the relevant issues and plan a way forward.

Those who would like to claim leadership, or that the only path to leadership is through their hoop, need to be clear about where they intend to lead the party and play a constructive role in doing so.

I wish people would go back to trying to convince others to follow them with evidence and argument instead of name calling and bs statements like "excuse me while I vomit" or "Right, racists and misogynists?" which aren't actually building the party back up.

That is a decent start. Just a little bit of civility and real discussion of the issues.

Donna wrote a book. She is out promoting it. Let's talk about what she has to say and make a decision on what we keep, what we discard, and how to move forward. The disorganization is stupefying.

We all make mistakes and Brazile is no exception. We are fomenting over a woman who once gave Hillary debate questions in advance. If she's not more careful we'll soon be comparing her to Trump.
