Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Contradicting U.S. intelligence agencies, President Donald Trump on Saturday said he believes Russian President Vladimir Putin's claim that the Kremlin did not attempt to interfere in the 2016 election. In a statement to CNN on Saturday, CIA Director Mike Pompeo -- a Trump appointee -- stood by the agency's findings. "The Director stands by and has always stood by the January 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment entitled: Assessing Russian Activities and Intentions in Recent U.S. Elections," the agency said. "The intelligence assessment with regard to Russian election meddling has not changed."

The Manchurian President is owned by Putin, we all pretty much know why. How any American still supports him is beyond my capacity to forgive.

Helium is still pushing for new Benghazi hearings.

#5 And you are still pushing for more Russia gate hearings even though the time frame is pushing past Benghazi. I guess is if Trump screams "what difference does it make" you all will forget about it.

Benghazi happened on September 11, 2012. FBI opened an investigation on September 13, 2012. Clinton testified on October 22, 2015 for a second time. The final House Select Committee report came out on December 7, 2016.

So over 4 years for Benghazi.

Any other lies you want to toss out?

You wanna see Humpy Trumpy break down and scream? Put him through an 11 hour grilling by Congress like they did Hillary.

Truman created the CIA in 1947, a move he later regretted. These are his words on December 22, 1963, "I think it is time to take another look at the purpose and operations of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA)...For some time I have been disturbed by the way the CIA has been diverted from its original assignment. It has become an operational and policy-making arm of the Government. This has led to trouble and may have compounded our difficulties in several explosive areas. We have grown up as a nation, respected for our free institutions and for our ability to maintain a free and open society. There is something about the way the CIA is functioning that is casting a shadow over our historic position and I feel that we need to correct it."

President Kennedy, as the enormity of the Bay of Pigs disaster came home to him, said to one official of his Administration that he "wanted to splinter the C.I.A. in a thousand pieces and scatter it to the winds."

The CIA fixed that problem didn't they!

The irony is that hours after this was posted, reports come out that Eric Trump Jr. was in contact with Wikileaks the entire time.

#14 | Posted by Sycophant at 2017-11-14 11:03 AM | Reply | Newsworthy 1

#14, There is no doubt Trump's kids/team sought dirt on Hillary. Hillary did the same to Trump. There is no doubt Eric attempted to use Russia and Wikileaks as possible sources of dirt. What is not clear at all is what they got that the Republican Party didn't already have and had been using extensively. The exception of course is Wikileaks, whose source was most likely a memory stick from a DNC insider. Surrender those servers and experts at the NSA can determine this with certainty. Unless a procedure like the missing 30,000 emails is used first. But every one of those 30,000 emails has another end to it, so even that picture can be unscrambled with legal authority and enough investment of time.

Better to use all that time and energy to solve the JFK murder.

Even better forget Russia, outline a killer Sanders directed platform and take the country by storm. Tax the hell out of the 1%. Spend it all on programs for the 99%.

Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.): "You don't believe that surrogates from the Trump campaign had communications with the Russians?"

Attorney General Jeff Sessions: "I did not -- and I'm not aware of anyone else that did. I don't believe that it happened."

–exchange in congressional testimony, Oct. 18, 2017

Today Jeff Sessions says he doen't remember a meeting in which he was the Chair and the subject of contacts with Russia was raised and which he himself replied to. And he didn't even remember it until he saw it in the paper and he still doesn't remember what was said.

So today's lesson children:

When you get old and you get involved in something that is shady you can use the "Jeff Sessions defense" and just say well you can't be expected to remember things that were said to you even while you were in charge of the meetings.

I guess the Russians did, and the DNC paid about five million for a fake dossier that has blown up in their face. BTW, that was illegal, even if they went through a couple of middle men.

#18 | Posted by docnjo at 2017-11-15 12:48 PM | Reply

This always sounds a lot worse until we get down to the fact that we are talking about tweets and Facebook posts.

Trump shouldn't deny that it happened but the level of drama around this isn't appropriate either.

"BTW, that was illegal, even if they went through a couple of middle men."

Opposition research is legal and it is done every day by both parties and most candidates.

Parts of the dossier have been confirmed. None have been debunked.

Try watching real news for once.

"BTW, that was illegal, even if they went through a couple of middle men."

Didn't the GOP pay for it first?

So I guess both parties are subject to fines if the FEC finds that campaign finance laws were not followed.

And as for the dossier being fake... Oh it's real enough all right...and while perfect information in a preliminary intell report like this is never really all that accurate it has already been proved that the dossier certainly got some things right -- details that they could not have known prior.

And Steele and his company appear serious and credible. At least the FBI thought so.

Like CNN, the guardian, real news organizations run by professional journalists whose income depends on accuracy. You know..."fake news" as the world's most famous liar calls them.

#24 | Posted by SpeakSoftly CNN? You are seriously deluded. BBC and the Guardian? Both hard left, and that is saying something coming from Europe. It isn't what they report, it is what they ignore.

So they don't report "fake news" they just don't report what you want to hear?

What is it that you think they are "ignoring"?

Careful.

I have a google and I know how to use it.

That's the problem with believing right wing media - they tell you that anything which isn't right wing is hard left, which isn't true.

Factual media seems like liberal media if you consume republican propaganda all day long.

And the first thing every dictator or tyrant tells his followers is don't listen to the media.
Usually it only works in third world hellholes where the citizens are uneducated.
But it works on the morons in the republican base as well.

Surely you noticed after the Manchester bombing CNN staging a fake news event, the so called protest of Muslims ageist terrorism. The wide shot showed the staging and the 15 or so individuals framed to look like a much larger crowed, and as it turns out the majority of these burka wearing women were not even Muslim. Then ask yourself why CNN cooperated with the HRC campaign and framed their cameras to show an over flowing crowd that was not there. The attendance to her rallies were actually embarrassingly small, as the wide shots showed. THere is a reason most Americans do not trust corporate media, so why do you?
Actually tyrants do not suppress the news media, they take it over.

Surely you noticed you fell for Fake News? I would not even be surprised to find that some of those tweeting about this were Russian bots stirring up chaos.

I noticed you provided no sources for your "theories". You heard what you wanted to hear and you believe what you want to believe. Because you live in Fantasyland.

I try to live in the Real World so I will provide my source.

In short, the vigil was not a media invention. It was organized by the London Fatwa Council, a legitimate Islamic organization whose members have taken a vocal stand against terrorist attacks. Vigil participants were photographed, at their request, by international press organizations, including CNN. The charge that CNN or anyone else "staged" the event to "hype a narrative of widespread Muslim opposition" to the attacks is a politically motivated mischaracterization of what occurred.

Trump would love to do that, but it's illegal.
Instead he's trying to punish CNN by blocking their corporate merger.

Instead he has fox news, which feeds him fake news all day, only telling him what he wants to hear, which he takes as fact, and bases his decisions on.

If you don't trust corporate media, why do you trust fox news? Or breitbart, which is funded by activist billionaires?
