Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Roy Moore said that dating teens would have been "out of my customary behavior." He added that he didn't "generally" remember pursuing sexual relationships with teens. One person who does remember is his former colleague in the district attorney's office, Teresa Jones. Fmr Dep. DA Jones, who worked alongside Roy Moore, tells CNN: "It was common knowledge that Roy dated high school girls, everyone we knew thought it was weird...We wondered why someone his age would hang out at high school football games and the mall..."

Jones' statement: I was a deputy DA in Gadsden with Roy Moore. I have no doubt that these stories have validity. Roy was known to eschew dating his own age and preferred teenagers. I challenge all of my colleagues in the Bar and on the bench at that time to come forward to support that Roy Moore should not be elected to represent the place of my birth and my home for many years. Teresa D. Jones, Sarasota, Florida

Moore is a dead man walking. The only question left will be how many of his blind partisan believers will follow him into the abyss.

This is a PROSECUTOR who worked with Moore speaking to what others at that time had to have seen and known along with her. And Moore and his unconscionable supporters promise to drag Ms. Corfman's entire messy life into the public discourse in attempts to deflect from his own actions, making her life choices the issue instead by comparing her character to his facade.

Please people who know, speak up now before the rest of this woman's life is ruined - like much of it up till now - based on how his predation played on her psyche and self esteem as a young woman silently living with the aftermath of his unwarranted and unexpected assault.

They'll find some way to label her a Dem and then disregard is as politics because that's all they want, is to disregard it however they can.

This was not just some weird, innocent conduct by Roy Moore. This was simple predation. There is a distinct connection for some between their brand of Christianity and behavior like Moore undoubtedly exhibited when he was younger. This is an excellent article exposing this perverse intersection.

Let's face it, teen girls can be very hot! Sounds like he didn't go far with the 14-yo, and the rest were 16+. So he's creepy by today's standards, but not criminally so. Going back a century or two, this would be the norm; still is in some places. The hypocrisy is denying that he likes young chicks, and voters playing along either because they don't care, while still maintaining the charade that they think that what he did is bad.
It also brings up the question of if one can represent people who have a different ideology than you (like being Christian and not believing in abortion, but consenting that legal abortion is the will of the majority so not fighting it).
Maybe more apt is the question if one can fight for what is morally correct, even if one has personally failed at maintaining that morality? Presumably it gives one a good perspective for addressing the issue - but only if he admits his personal failures. Sort of like when I find myself yelling at my kids because they're yelling at each other - and we all take that as a learning experience, understand each other better and work to find ways to avoid the problem.

The hypocrisy is that he would damn others for liking young chicks. In fact, if he gets to the Senate, I suspect we'll see him do that.

I have a 14 year old daughter. If some 30 something guy came sniffing around her, I would go ballistic. If he laid hands on her-peace loving, anti-gun, anti-violence personification that I am would go buy a gun and put a bullet in his head. I have already practiced the speech I will give my daughter's suitors. Love and lust and all that are complicated I get it, you can break her heart, she will break others. Cheat on her, well its his loss. I am not about to police my child's love life. But if you raise a hand to her or rape her, all bets are off. I have one job in life and that is to protect my children from predators until such time as they can defend themselves.
There is no excuse for a 30 something to be fooling around with a teenager. This ain't the middle ages. Pedophiles beware.

"I have a 14 year old daughter."

Sounds like a hottie, but there's only one way to know for sure:
Is she someone Trump might consider dating when she turns 18?

Or imagine you're on Howard Stern, would this conversation go down?

Trump: "My daughter is beautiful, Ivanka."
Stern: "By the way, your daughter ... "
Trump: " - she's beautiful"
Stern: "Can I say this? A piece of ass."
Trump: "Yeah."

Anthony Weiner-in jail
Jacob Schwartz-arrested
Jeffrey Epstein-served time
Bob Menendez-no sexual misconduct far as I can tell, but he's standing trial
Harvey Weinstein-disgraces and ostracized

So is your point to highlight the difference between the Dems and Repubs regarding their members and the consequences of sexual misconduct?

Because everyone you listed faced consequences and were't supported or rationalized away.

The Repubs, however, have supported and rationalized two sexual predators, Trump and Moore, in their ranks. Why do "Conservatives" support sexual assault and pedophilia?

Your guess is correct. Like DT, I've disliked HC since I first became aware of her. But if you think that clip is about her laughing and bragging about "getting a rapist off" then 1) you didn't pay attention to the clip and 2) you've never talked with a lawyer about their war stories. She was laughing about the evidence, an expert, the judge not "getting a rapist off."

"Didn't you read the text on the screen which was what she was saying? It says in the first 5 seconds her client was accused of raping a 12 year old girl. "

And then she goes on to laugh about other aspects of the trial. NOT the fact he got off. If you can't tell the difference between laughing about setting a predator free, and laughing about the efficacy of lie-detector machines, there's no hope for you.

"You are in denial."

My irony meter just pegged.

Leigh Corfman is the only person who says Moore fondled her. But she's not the only witness to the pickup outside the courtroom; her mother, Nancy Wells, was also there. And Nancy Wells corroborates that part of her daughter's story; she recalls thinking how nice it was for this young gentleman to offer to take care of her daughter.

Moore, however, denies not just the fondling, but any sort of contact with Leigh Corfman at all. On that point, it's not his word against hers; he is flatly contradicted by two witnesses, not one. And again, his motivation for lying is obvious, while theirs is obscure; Leigh Corfman, for example is a Republican who voted for Trump, which makes it less likely that she is trying to derail Moore's political career on partisan or ideological grounds.

Moore's attempt, and that of his supporters, to blame the Washington Post for concocting "fake news," while it might be effective political rhetoric, lost all of its logical force when the Wall Street Journal re-interviewed the Post‘s sources and found that all of them confirmed that the Post had accurately reported their statements.

washingtonmonthly.com

Through his own words and selective recollections Roy Moore has shown that it's far more likely he did the acts he stands accused of than his contradictory denials would lead unbiased people to view him as innocent.

You shouldn't, because it's not a sad and confused place. It's a wonderful place that has a very vocal minority of ultra-religious people who are sad and confused. But, in as much as they are wrong, they are faithful and easily swayed by religious hucksters.

In the high-tech sector where i live and work, i never come across any of these people, ever. I often wonder where the hell they are, but they show up on election day. I think most of the people you are talking about are on gov't assistance and never leave their fox news TV's except to go vote.
