Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Saturday, November 11, 2017

Brett J. Talley, President Trump's nominee to be a federal judge in Alabama, has never tried a case, was unanimously rated "not qualified" by the American Bar Assn.'s judicial rating committee, has practiced law for only three years and, as a blogger last year, displayed a degree of partisanship unusual for a judicial nominee, denouncing "Hillary Rotten Clinton" and pledging support for the National Rifle Association. On Thursday, the Senate Judiciary Committee, on a party-line vote, approved him for a lifetime appointment to the federal bench.

"He's practiced law for less than three years and never argued a motion, let alone brought a case. This is the least amount of experience I've seen in a judicial nominee," said Kristine Lucius, executive vice president of the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights.

He is simply trying to flood the court with uber conservative nominees who will serve for decades and decades and decades. Qualifications matter not a whit to Trump and the Trumphumpers.

#2 not Trump but those around him are. His characteristic that you describe is precisely why they support him enough to avoid booting him from office.

A government job at that. Go figure.

Does Trump ever do a single thing that isn't repugnant?

Gee. Let me guess. Florida or Alabama.

I hope you Republicans are proud of the kind of nation you are building. It is sickening! I genuinely believe that Adolph Hitler would win an election in some parts of the South.

I knew before clicking on this link, no Rs would attend. There is no defense to this idiocy.

What R wants to step forward to admit they built this?

Graduating from school doesn't make you the best example of the field. It's just the start.

You know what they call the person who graduates last of their class at Harvard? A Harvard graduate.

You know who graduated last in his class from West Point?

George Armstrong Custer.

There was another thread on this days ago, myself and a few other people said that he has no business being on the bench and that he should not be approved.

Also pointed out the numbers of nominees that got unqualified ratings from the ABA from Clinton to now.

Gee, it only took Obama leaving office for this to become a positive talking point for Rs.

Gee, it only took Obama leaving office for this to become a meaningless talking point for the Ds. Fixed that for you.

You literally just said this qualified this guy to get a lifetime appointment to the federal bench and now its a useless talking point for Obama?

Is it because Obama was a Democrat or because he was black?

Trump 100% judges people on what they say about trump. I'm surprised the doc who did Ivanka's rack isn't Surgeon General.

That's not entirely true, Sully. To be fair, Trump also takes into consideration such things as demeanor, experience and whether the nominee's wife works for the White House and/or has been interviewed as part of the Mueller investigation into obstruction of justice. nytimes.com

#27 | Posted by cbob at 2017-11-13 02:54 PM | Reply

This is really odd: Somehow the nominee failed to mention his wife among potential conflicts of interest.

I guess he just forgot.
