Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

President Donald Trump called 12 Senate Democrats Tuesday, hoping to sway them in favor of the Republican tax cut bill, and told them he would personally "get killed" financially by the GOP bill. He said the wealthy need a repeal of the estate tax, according to multiple people who were present. "My accountant called me and said 'you're going to get killed in this bill,'" the president said during a phone call from his trip in South Korea. He was apparently trying to increase Democratic support by claiming the bill would hurt wealthy taxpayers like himself, making the point that only the repeal of the estate tax would provide him any benefit.

Trump, a billionaire, has not released any tax returns and so it has not been possible for the public to assess how this plan could benefit him personally and his family. ...

An analysis by the Joint Committee on Taxation found that after 2023, people making between $20,000 and $40,000 would see a tax increase. People making $200,000 to $500,000 per year would also see a tax increase after 2023 under the current GOP plan. A repeal of the estate tax would give the wealthy an additional $300 billion dollar tax break.

All we need to judge the veracity of his claim is to see his previous 10 yrs tax records and score them compared to the tax amount the same numbers will produce.

By all means, show us!

"Trump Tells Dems He'll ‘Get Killed' Financially in Tax Bill"

Trump--no surprise--is lying.

Dropping the corporate rate 42%, eliminating the Estate Tax, eliminating the AMT, and repatriating those rubles at only 12% means he'll be making a killing.

If Donny Doll Hands my hair was on fire, I would have to ask someone else before I believe him. He can put all speculation to bed and release his 2016 tax returns. We can then declare it for the -------- it is.

It's gonna kill him, just not the way people think. His kids will kill him for the inheritance since the estate tax won't be there anymore.

Ivanka: Daddy, will go around the back of the Land Rover and get something out of the back?

Donny: Why is the car running and in reverse?

Ivanka: I'm making Trump Great Again. (presses accelerator)

That would be terrible. It would make Mike Pence President.

The estate tax was put in place just because of people like him. In other words: Rockefeller, Carnegie, Morgan, Schwab, Vanderbilt, et al.

Some fun facts:

- Congress made a permanent estate tax on estates in excess of $5 million at a rate of 40 percent in 2013.
- Only the wealthiest estates pay the tax because it is levied only on the portion of an estate's value that exceeds the specified exemption level -- $5.49 million per person (effectively $10.98 million per married couple) in 2017. In other words it adjusts for inflation.
- 2 out of 1000 estates will owe estate tax in 2017. It helps to keep the the .2% somewhat in check.
- The tax is progressive and the average estate tax levied against estates over $20 million is 19.4%
- There are huge loopholes that allow many estates to avoid paying taxes. - Trusts
- The largest estates are mostly compromised of unrealized capital gains that have never been taxed in the first place.
- The US has some of the lowest estate taxes of the developed nations.

Poor Trump. His old ears aren't what they used to be. His accountant actually said "you're going to make a killing in this bill". Anyone who believes Trump won't benefit from this bill is either a hack, ignorant of the bill, or beyond the help of modern teaching and private tutors.

When Baron has to wipe his ass with an old Sears catalog, then we'll talk.

It should be an old Sears catalog with half the pages ripped out, as a lesson on the evils of socialism.

Trump probably doesn't even know what is in the tax bill.

So no evidence was provided to substantiate that Trump lied yet the media can still lie in their headlines. Doesn't really matter anyways, if there is one thing smart people have learned with the advent of the Internet is that one issue can be proven true and false with real facts, it all depends on how you spin them. Both sides do it all the time.
