Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Former FBI Director James Comey included the phrase "grossly negligent" in early drafts of his 2016 statement regarding Hillary Clinton and her use of a private email setup.

Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, obtained from the FBI a draft of a statement dated May 2, 2016. In it, Comey wrote these passages:

"There is evidence to support a conclusion that Secretary Clinton, and others, used the private email server in a manner that was grossly negligent with respect to the handling of classified material.

"Similarly, the sheer volume of information that was properly classified as Secret at the time it was discussed on email (that is, excluding the 'up classified' emails) supports an inference that the participants were grossly negligent in their handling of that information."

Comey later changed the statement when he delivered his final assessment of the case July 5, 2016, in which he said he would not recommend charges be brought against Clinton for using a private email server and multiple email addresses while she served as secretary of state:

"Although we did not find clear evidence that Secretary Clinton or her colleagues intended to violate laws governing the handling of classified information, there is evidence that they were extremely careless in their handling of very sensitive, highly classified information."

Interesting. I wonder what Comey learned between that draft and his final. I'm glad they investigated her and came to a conclusion. How do you feel about members of the Trump administration using private email for government business?

Oh, so we should just forget about the Russian connections to Trump. Is Hillary Clinton running for any office? Why is Grassley seemingly trying to continue to pursue her? Distraction value, that's why.

That Loretta Lynch, after her "tarmac meeting" with Bill Clinton in June 2016, was going to fire his --- if he made that finding during the election.

Here is why this is important--- 18 U.S.C. 793(f):

(f) Whoever, being entrusted with or having lawful possession or control of any document, writing, code book, signal book, sketch, photograph, photographic negative, blueprint, plan, map, model, instrument, appliance, note, or information, relating to the national defense, (1) through gross negligence permits the same to be removed from its proper place of custody or delivered to anyone in violation of his trust, or to be lost, stolen, abstracted, or destroyed, or (2) having knowledge that the same has been illegally removed from its proper place of custody or delivered to anyone in violation of its trust, or lost, or stolen, abstracted, or destroyed, and fails to make prompt report of such loss, theft, abstraction, or destruction to his superior officer --

Shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both

If Comey had made a "gross negligence" filing, he would have had no choice but to bring charges against Secretary Clinton for breaking the law. This is pure speculation obviously, but if this wasn't discussed between Lynch and Clinton during the "tarmac meeting" then Lynch is dumber than I ever thought.

It's not a deflection to note that the focus on Hillary Clinton today is just an attempt to distract from Trump and his problems.

Anyone see Grassley at the press conference the other day, trying to sneak away without answering questions? It was pretty funny. He is a slime ball just so you know. I remember him from the committee meetings where they debated the healthcare bill and he insisted on amendments to a bill that he admitted he was going to vote against.
