Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Monday, November 06, 2017

The congressman who said he "would love to invalidate" the Endangered Species Act is closing in on his goal. Rep. Rob Bishop (R-Utah) recently shepherded five bills out of the Natural Resources Committee he chairs that would dismantle the law piece by piece. Many Republicans on the panel say the proposals are necessary changes that would modernize the 1973 law. Democrats and conservationists say the bills would whittle away the law's ability to save wildlife from extinction.

"One measure would force the federal government to consider the economic impact of saving a species rather than make a purely scientific call. Another would require the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, which administers the act along with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, to defer to data collected by states as the "best scientific and commercial data available," although state funding related to the act accounts for a small fraction of that supported by the federal government."

These Republicans make me ill. Science denying a******s! There must be some oil company that wants to drill in an are where the last remaining members of some species lives so they can pull out a few thousand barrels of oil which will be burned in less than a day but the species will be gone from the EArth forever. Thanks a******s! Wait, that is not a strong enough word. Thanks paid for killers of the Earth. Hired guns, aiming to kill endangered species for a few thousand campaign bucks as if their careers are really an important thing in the scheme of things. I blame the SC for decisions which have enabled money to own politicians because as we all know "money is free speech." If that is true then realize, if you are an average American, you will always be shouted down.

When people vote for an R this is what they're voting for. Dirty air, dirty water. And extinction.

Why bother tracking endangered species when they'll kill us all from global warming anyway?

Is this news? The GOP has been trying to gut the ESA since it was enacted. They're just closer, now.

Saving creatures from going extinct is just too expensive. We need to save that money so Trump's cronies can fly private jets and so the Donald can play more golf.

Also, it interferes with building more Trump golf courses.

Funny how they don't want to save dying species but will do anything to save the dying coal industry.

Funny that you're fine with killing every species on the planet, poor people, and sick people, but you think acting concerned about fetuses means you're a good person.

I really hope Nulli and Sheeple jump on this thread to tell us all how trump and hillary were equally bad.

Donald Trump accused of obstructing satellite research into climate change

Republican-controlled Congress ordered destruction of vital sea-ice probe

Well, it's not really a mystery.

Conservatives believe 'we're living in the end-times'.

"Donald Trump accused of obstructing satellite research into climate change"

That one decision tells us everything we need to know about Trump and conservatives. They don't care about reality, they only care about their profits regardless of the consequences.

"Conservatives believe 'we're living in the end-times'."

Which means conservatives are lunatics. There have been lunatics telling us we are in the end-times for several thousand years. Some have even predicted the date and time of the end. Some have described how it will go down. They are all lunatics and, as such, should never be allowed to control the levers of power. Someone who wants to "prove" their theory about end-times should be in a mental hospital not in Congress. They are dangerous psychopaths determined to "prove" their illusion is reality.

If that's true, why do they spend so much effort accumulating material wealth? What good will money be when "Gabriel blows his horn"?

Also, what is it about "conservatives" that they just can't seem to understand interdepencence, as in the result of disrupting the food chain?

No I'm just an adult who knows how to choose the lesser evil while working towards a less evil world.

YOu're a baby who demands perfection before you'll support anyone, so the greater evil wins, the environment gets trashed, species disappear, voting gets corrupted, sick people are left to die, and nuclear wars get started. But at least you get to feel smarter than everyone else, while you're actually dumber.

Aren't you the one doing that, with your "Conservatives believe we are living in the End Times" comment??
