(CNN) GOP Sen. Rand Paul was assaulted in his home in Bowling Green, Kentucky, on Friday, according to Kentucky State Police.

State troopers responded to a call to the senator's residence at 3:21 p.m. Friday. Police arrested a man named Rene Albert Boucher, who they allege "intentionally assaulted" Paul, causing him "minor injury."

Boucher, 59, of Bowling Green was charged with one count of fourth-degree assault. As of Saturday afternoon, he was being held in the Warren County Regional Jail on a $5,000 bond.

Can you account for your whereabouts when it happened?

Bowling Green Massacre redux

The article makes it sound like Rene just walked into his house and punched him. I guess he doesn't keep his door locked at all times. Well, that's normal enough, I never lock mine....

I wonder what his explanation to the cops is going to be? I did it for the fame? To impress a woman? Because he's... just... so... irresistibly... punchable!?

Of course, it will probably turn out be something mundane, like politics. But we might surprised. For instance, we should investigate whether or not there where telepathic communications between Rene and the Mole People that live in the Hollow Earth or something.

Sounds like someone didn't want to pay the "tip"

Apparently Boucher is an anesthesiologist who lives next door, and they've had some sort of long-running feud. Maybe politics, maybe not, but it's definitely one doctor punching another.

Boucher's daughter and Paul's son are Facebook buds. Hmmm.

#10 Thanks, that explains a lot. Also, I would never try to take on a "pain specialist" in a real fight. Rand Paul should have tried to find some way to back out of that one.

Rene is a rabid democratic anti-Trumper. I thought it was one of the dim bulbs here but I see some of them have posted already.

"According to the arrest warrant, Paul told troopers that his neighbor came onto his property and tackled him from behind, forcing him to the ground and causing pain.

The arrest warrant goes on to say that Paul had small cuts to his nose and mouth."

The story here is that Rand Paul mows his own lawn.
