Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

A tunnel at an underground North Korea nuclear site has collapsed with up to 200 people killed, according to reports. The collapse happened at the Punggye-ri nuclear test site in the north-east of the country on October 10, according to Japan's TV Asahi. A North Korean official said the collapse happened during the construction of an underground tunnel, South Korea's Yonhap news agency reports. Some 100 people are said to have been trapped by the initial tunnel collapse, with a further 100 lost in a second collapse during a rescue operation, Asahi reported Tuesday. ... The accident is believed to have been caused by Kim Jong-un's sixth nuclear test which weakened the mountain, according to the report.

I listened on NPR to scientists who know about such things that said this mountain was ready to collapse. Don't set off nuclear weapons under a mountain and then dig more tunnels in the same mountain. There was surface craters visible from space that appeared after their most recent underground tests. I am sorry that 200 people (probably far more) are dead, I am sorry for the injured but I am not sorry that Kim's nuclear plan has basically destroyed itself.
The idea that he planned to set off a nuclear weapon in the sky over the Pacific Ocean led me to believe that any such vehicle should be shot down, I don't care if it was a plane with people on board. Not ok to set off such a weapon.
So, I guess I'm not PC, but I'm sort of glad they had this disaster.

Those of us that were babies in the fifties and sixties grew up drinking milk contaminated with radioactive elements from air tests. There were hundreds of tests.

Re #3.

Well.

That might explain a lot of things about your generation.

I guess the terrorist attack in NY knocked this story out of the news but, to me, it's a pretty important, even a potentially game changing story.

If radioactive debris leaks out, this could be the excuse that China needs to move into NK and take over the testing and development sites, as they have officially warned Kim that they would consider radioactive leaks that reach Chinese soil as an attack.

I am not sure if this is their main development site but if it is, then this will set them back for a while until they clean it up.

"clean up".... LOL now that is some funny stuff there!

How long do you think it will take for them to bulldoze a bunch of dirt into the hole and stick a radioactive sign in it?

Kim has all the slave labor he needs. They will have another tunnel open in no time.

Losing 200 of his people is nothing to him.

And the people will praise them as martyrs and work even harder for their God and Dear Leader.

Donner is right, it's not slowing down anything. It's not like their actual production facilities collapsed.

I never trust a story in The Sun. It's got less credibility than everything except The Daily Caller, imo.
They do show topless chicks though, so I still click the links...
