Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

[A] new species of traversable wormhole has emerged, free of exotic material and full of potential for helping physicists resolve a baffling paradox about black holes. ... The flurry of findings started last year with a paper that reported the first traversable wormhole that doesn't require the insertion of exotic material to stay open. Instead, according to Ping Gao and Daniel Jafferis of Harvard University and Aron Wall of Stanford University, the repulsive negative energy in the wormhole's throat can be generated from the outside by a special quantum connection between the pair of black holes that form the wormhole's two mouths. When the black holes are connected in the right way, something tossed into one will shimmy along the wormhole and, following certain events in the outside universe, exit the second.

Remarkably, Gao, Jafferis and Wall noticed that their scenario is mathematically equivalent to a process called quantum teleportation, which is key to quantum cryptography and can be demonstrated in laboratory experiments.

John Preskill, a black hole and quantum gravity expert at Caltech, says the new traversable wormhole comes as a surprise, with implications for the black hole information paradox and black hole interiors. "What I really like," he said, "is that an observer can enter the black hole and then escape to tell about what she saw."

So cool. It's like a cosmic In-N-Out Burger. Quantum connections have all kinds of possibilities, in deep space... and in our quantum brains.

Wow, that's a lot of mental ------------. In our Universe we know energy and mass are conserved. We also know their equivalence is described by Einstein's equation E=mc2.

"Space is essentially stitched into existence by quantum entanglement."
The key word here being "essentially" meaning they have no idea what they're talking about.

"Traversable wormhole and quantum teleportation: a protocol discovered in 1993 that allows a quantum system to disappear and reappear unscathed somewhere else."

This sounds like Bell's Theorem. The catch which renders the proven Bell's Theorem useless to human beings is that the instantaneous transport across spacetime is random. That is there is no way to control your final position.

"Then tickling the radiation can send a message which can be read from inside the black hole!"
Hypothesizing information inside and outside a black hole, let alone life as we know it is absurd. While we can safely assume we have conserved total mass and energy and by implication all the "information" contained in it, we have no Rosetta stone which would permit use to read the stuff inside a black hole. No idea whatsoever.

"Wormhole Allows Information to Escape Black Holes"

So THAT'S why Hillary's brain is so empty.

So this lends credence (somewhat) to the overall plot line of Inception.

The key to saving the human species was at the center of a black hole. Not exactly the narrative of the movie, but they WERE able to get information out from the singularity to the scientists, saving the humans.

----!

Not Inception, that was Leo's movie.

It was Interstellar that I was referring to.

The catch seems to be that you need the reference entangled information to get to the other side of the wormhole via normal space (at < light speed) to decode the data.

Funny how Trumpbots can even make a pure science story into a chance to take a shot at Hillary, who is not even in or running for elective office anymore
