Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Thursday, October 26, 2017

Elizabeth Drew, New Republic: This depiction of Donald Trump as a weak president would no doubt shock his ardent followers, especially since Trump usually covers his retreats with bluster. It might also be a surprise to those who have worried that he's a would-be autocrat. It turns out that Trump has neither the wit nor the grit to seize power, and he may be too lazy and too uninterested in governing to make much of it if he did. ... [E]xcept for his use of executive orders (often to countermand ones by [President] Obama) and his cyber-bullying, Trump is essentially a passive participant in his own government.

I, for one, figured electing a game show host president would work out much better than it has..

Who Knew Trump Would Be a Weak President?

Everyone close to him, his spouse and former spouses, his children, campaign managers, the Clintons, Bloomberg, even Putin.

And anyone who listened to anything other than Fox News.

I really did believe this was going to happen. Everyone was predicting the end of the world with his election. But, as I pointed repeatedly, there was no way his most obnoxious ideas were going to be supported by Congress. And, so far at least, that is how it has played out. He has done harm, but not on the galactic scale certain Democrat posters have trumpeted.

But let's not be naive. If the Republicans retain control of both houses of Congress next year the entire dynamic could change. At that point Trump's stupidity may actually get enacted. Nothing like a huge pointless wall to solve all our problems.

That can still happen with a weak president. Lets hope he doesn't nuke NKorea out of frustration and bored...or dementia.

For a weak President, Trump has still managed a lot of damage.

Whatsleft: He has done damage. Not DAMAGE. mostly nibbling around the edges with ----------- executive orders, offending our allies abroad and obnoxious cabinet appointments.

The fat ------- can't walk 18 holes; of course he was going to be weak.

I knew he'd be horrible, I just didn't know he'd be so unable to control his idiotic impulses.

Hopefully they will get him impeached. Of course, that would require some republicans to suddenly grow some ethics.

I did. Everything is does is a demonstration of weakness. You want to see strong? Look at Barack.

What Mod is politely trying to say is that while Trump is a dumpster fire, he still hasn't done anything as bad as destroying a country so jihadists can take over or financially rewarding theft that could have bankrupted us all. Unlike both his predecessors....

The bar is so low that someone as lazy as trump may not be able to lower it.

The full damage of donald trump will become evident over decades.

The toxins he's approving wont be proven to cause sickness or illness for years.
The climate change he's enabling won't wipe out coastal cities for years.

Kids today are seeing that being a lying arrogant, ignorant, cruel, racist ------- is the way to the top.
In 20 years a swarm of mini trumps will ruin everything.

#16 It's just your constant positive energy must be refreshing to anyone that is around you. Do you ever guess why people move away from you during social events if you even get invited? Just saying. Can't be that healthy to be that miserable all the time.

Sure bud. If you can't refute anything someone says, just start attacking them personally.

You ------- elected a mental patient to run the country. Intelligent people know the damage that could occur.

Your relaxed attitude is a result of your own stupidity.

The idea that any U.S. president could make a difference in the enormously complex global climate is a true "magic-wand" fantasy.

Nothing. You start personal attacks, you get them in return.

If you had a brain, you'd be very worried to have someone like trump as president.

You make a list of things that you imagine are going to happen years in the future and are irritated that someone doesn't refute it? The list you made of things that are going to happen in the future. That you made up. Refute that?

'We have, people tell me, our oceans are the hugest, I mean really big. No one has ever seen such awesome oceans. Everyone says it and I will make them biglier, truly amazing oceans that, and I think, people tell me, that the oceans have never been greater, since I took office. No one before me ever even called them oceans, I think, I came up with the idea of calling them oceans, what is a big word for a great body of water? I said. Oceans! It was a great idea and believe me no one ever thought of it before. A tremendous idea that everyone agrees, talks about, was right there."
