Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Wednesday, October 25, 2017

Four days after his inauguration, Donald Trump signed a handful of executive memos to advance the Keystone XL pipeline and revive the U.S. steel industry. He invited builder TransCanada Corp. to reapply for a permit denied by Barack Obama and ordered up fast-track rules forcing not only Keystone but also all new U.S. pipelines to be made from American steel. "From now on, we're going to be making pipeline in the United States," he said. Made-in-America Keystone was a stunt. Most of its pipes had already been manufactured, a fact the White House grudgingly admitted when it exempted the project from any new Buy American rules a few months later. While some of Keystone's pipes were made in the U.S., at least a quarter of them came from a Russian steel company whose biggest shareholder is an oligarch and Trump family friend.

I thought laws were only enforced AFTER they were passed. Of course when the subject is Trump, he is responsible for actions taken years before he came into office.

How much more blatent lying can his supporters take? He doesn't even try to hide it.

The issue is that about 90% of what tumbles out of Trump's mouth is known at the time to be false, but he says it anyway because it either plays well or stokes his ego.

Do you honestly not find it concerning that you can't take anything Trump, our POTUS, says at face value?

And don't give me that 'all politicians lie' ----. We're well well beyond what constituted normal just a year ago.

My point is that Donald hates his own citizens but loves money and power. He operates like a Mafioso, which he may well be.

Try READING the article rather than drooling on the keyboard.

The issue, geniuses, was that Trump touted this as Made in America Keystone like it was going to bring back a bunch of jobs. THAT was a total lie and the White House admitted it later quietly.

"rdered up fast-track rules forcing not only Keystone but also all new U.S. pipelines to be made from American steel."

Sure sounds like a great talking point. But the truth is that it was a talking point only. Given how this corrupt administration works I would bet that they knew the pipes were already fabricated and thus felt snug and secure in putting that requirement in.

That way their Russian friends get paid, the Snoops and Docnjos of the world say "Luk! He is making 'Murica Grate Again!"

#15 | Posted by 726, Actually I never voted for Trump, nor do I even like the Damn Yankee. But it is so easy to point out a derangement. Get over it, Trump's tweets are just is impulsive responses in 72 characters or less. Not policy. The most humorous are the ones that point out that he is a narcissist, little factoid- all presidents are narcissist, it is sort of a requirement to believe that you can effectively lead a diverse nation of 300 million+.

Why would Obama buy pipe for a pipeline that was not approved?

The project was approved by Trump and THEN the pipe was ordered.

And just to add another reason to shake our collective heads, The pipeline will be built but may never be used. Transcanada can't find any customers.

A lot of countries have booming industries while other countries don't, but those other countries tend to boom in other areas. And yet the media decides to try to paint the POTUS in a bad light because another country has one booming industry. And hell, if that is a big issue, then every POTUS since we started importing from China and outsourcing to India is a terrible President considering China and India have BOOOOOOOOOOOOMED in the last few decades.

#26 | Posted by humtake, as I remember the boom in China and India started in the 90s, so Bill was at fault?
