Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Monday, October 23, 2017

Tony Podesta and the Podesta Group are now the subjects of a federal investigation being led by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, three sources with knowledge of the matter told NBC News. The probe of Podesta and his Democratic-leaning lobbying firm grew out of Mueller's inquiry into the finances of former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, according to the sources. As special counsel, Mueller has been tasked with investigating possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.

It's not funny, but sickening, to now see that both parties were colluding with the Russians.

I'm in considerable pain today and this is the salve I need. Both campaigns were colluding with Russia. Giggles and snorts.

True, but as I pointed out in the thread regarding the Russian Collusion investigation threatened on the Uranium One deal, this is how Washington has worked for hundreds of years: if it gets too hot on one side of the aisle, the heat will be turned up on the other side and an appropriate fall guy or three will be taken down to protect the power players.

Usually the only "cardinal" sin in Washington is getting caught lying during an investigation (Nixon, Clinton, Abramoff, etc.), otherwise a fall guy will take the heat, and occasionally a bullet.

Do you think that Hillary would have been spared a Mueller type investigation, especially in light of the new turn this investigation has taken recently? The GOP would have already drawn up the articles, and given their control would be seriously talking impeachment for some BS.

As Pinky points out, both sides are crooked, pick your poison.

This story has nothing to do with Hillary's campaign or the Democratic Party. It's not about John Podesta; it's about his brother the lobbyist.

Jesus Christ on a pogo stick. There's no point to having a discussion if people can't be arsed to figure out the basic facts before opening their pie holes.

"Tony Podesta is the chairman of the Podesta Group and the brother of John Podesta, Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign chairman. John Podesta is not currently affiliated with the Podesta Group and is not part of Mueller's investigation."

This makes no sense.

'is the chairman' and 'not currently affiliated'.

Well, which is it?

If you're still the chairman, you sure are affiliated with the group.

Mueller seems to be leaving no stone unturned. That's good. He is probably looking into any potential recent connections between Manfort and Tad Devine as well. I haven't heard of any, but that fact needs to be verified. Jill Stein should be looked at since she was at the same table as Putin and Flynn. As I've said before, I think she was just a useful idiot, but that, too, needs to be verified. Did Gary Johnson or any of the GOP primary candidates have any connections to Russia? Beats me, but if they did, I hope Mueller takes a look there as well.

Tony is the chairman, John has "nothing" to do with the Podesta Group.

Like Bob and Harvey Weinstein, they have zero connection and John has "no idea" what his brother has been up to.

That happens on a daily basis here, Drudgelord, on both sides of the aisle, this can hardly be a surprise.

Well, actually I have heard of some, but I don't take them seriously at this point.

Like Bob and Harvey Weinstein, they have zero connection ...

This is a ---- comparison and you know it. The Weinsteins have been partners in multiple businesses without interruption since the 1970s -- a span of 50 years.

John Podesta left the Podesta Group in 1993 and has since worked as Clinton's assistant to the president, Tom Daschle's counsel, Clinton's chief of staff, the founder of Center for American Progress, the co-chair of Obama-Biden's 2008 presidential transition, Obama special advisor and Hillary campaign chair.

John has 24 years doing his own thing and you're trying to hoodwink people into thinking he's connected to Tony's lobbying.

Lobbyists will ultimately destroy democracy, be it in the Ukraine or America.

Has anyone else here spent time with a lobbyist? I did when I was visiting Congress with a group of other small web publishers. We had a lobbyist with us as as a "minder" in case one of the publishers said something kooky to a Congress member or aide.

His clients included big tobacco and the Heritage Foundation and he looked like a shark in a suit. I talked to him a bit about his job. Without saying it directly, he made it clear that he couldn't care less about politics except as a vehicle to make as much money for himself as possible. His smile was chilling. He seemed like a guy who had surgically removed his conscience and slept like a baby.

As if this will give you the warm and fuzzies.

Meanwhile, basing an argument on someone's looks is exactly what some predators are looking for to exonerate themselves.
