Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Saturday, October 21, 2017

An interesting side note from the ongoing circus that is the Trump White House vs. Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-FL): Trump's daughter-in-law Lara Trump claims to have read a transcript of the president's call to a Gold Star widow -- a transcript the White House itself said doesn't exist. On Friday morning, Lara Trump defended the president from Wilson's claim that the call was "insensitive," confirming to Fox News that she read the "transcript," adding that having "read exactly what he said," she believes the media has distorted the call. Later in the day, however, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters: "There's not a transcript of the call."

These people are lying about the lies they told to cover for the lies they told to back up their lies.

Is this some new sport I'm not familiar with?

Actually, it's a blood sport to them. Not so much for their victims.

Up until now I thought lying was in the Trump DNA. Apparently it's contagious as well. The Trump family is the Haz-Med of politics.

The problem that Pres Trump has to face is that he has shown that he lies, frequently and apparently without guilt.

Pres Trump and, by extension, those around him, have a credibility problem of their own making.

During the times when Pres Trump needs to be believed, there is no foundation upon which to build that belief.

Pres Trump needs to spend less time calling everyone else a liar, and look in the mirror.

It's the first strike methodology of a schizophrenic. I think it's called "Projection" by those guys over in that building where they have rubber rooms.

Lara will be subpoenaed in January, 2019 after the House or Senate turn to Democratic hands. In a first, C-Span viewers will then get to see the first pelvic exam broadcast live...

This Drudge headline is misleading. "Trump's Kid's Wife: There's a Transcript" alleges Lara Trump said there is a transcript. But if you listen to the interview, the word transcript comes only out of the reporter's mouth. Ms. Trump did not correct here, and did say "when you look at what was said...", but that is to the same as her alleging there is a transcript. I had hoped the heightened scrutiny on the media that the President has engendered would lead to higher journalistic standards everywhere. Sadly, the media seems to have gone the other way for some reason, and nearly abandoned all standards completely.

The media plays the hand they're dealt. If Trump & Company insist on painting a bulls eye on their rear end, or pasting a "Kick Me" sign on their back, they're inviting all the pot shots they get. Truth be known, the size and velocity of the shots is the one and only true lifeblood of the Trump & Company ego.

But abandoning standards paints a bullseye right between the legs of corporate media. Trump just capitalizes on their self-sabotage.
