Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Deadspin: Trump voters turned sharply against the NFL after Donald Trump criticized NFL player protests during the national anthem at a late-September rally in support of the Alabama senate candidate who lost to psychotic Charles Portis character Judge Roy Moore. Where Trump voters had once viewed the NFL roughly as Clinton voters did -- around 60 percent favorably, and around 20 percent unfavorably -- those percentages swiftly flipped almost upside down.

There is a sizable percentage of the population -- dwindling in terms of its percentage of the electorate, but still gobsmackingly huge in terms of absolute numbers -- that follows Trump with the avidity and blank loyalty and desperate thirsty self-definition that people also bring to fandom. ...

Among the unenumerated powers of the Presidency is the opportunity to shape the national conversation, and because the current President is a toweringly cretinous television addict, our national conversation is as a result now largely a meta-conversation about whatever it was that he last got upset about on television. In a real sense, the entire nation is presently trapped in President Trump's Twitter feed, and therefore stuck talking about the things he thinks about. Which is himself, mostly, and also his various defective long-running grudges and gripes.

asking his true believers to deprive people of their ability to earn a living based on his ephemeral

willingness to suppress individual action to further a principal that can prove to be antithetical

This is the kind of candidate Trump's base is gravitating to (yeah, I know Trump picked the other guy but his base and Bannon didn't):

Judge Roy Moore: We Removed God from Schools, Shootings and Death Filled the Void

"You wonder why we're having shootings, and killings here in 2017? Because we've asked for it," Moore said. "We've taken God out of everything. We've taken prayer out of school, we've taken prayer out of council meetings."

If that don't convince you how wacky Trump's base is, try this on for size:

Yes, Pat Robertson blamed the Vegas shooting on ‘disrespect' for Trump and the national anthem

There is "violence in the streets," Robertson said, because "we have disrespected authority. There is profound disrespect for our president, all across this nation. They say terrible things about him. It's in the news; it's in other places."

. . .

"There is disrespect now for our national anthem, disrespect for our veterans, disrespect for the institutions of our government, disrespect for the court system," he said. "All the way up and down the line, disrespect."

Televangelist Pat Robertson links Las Vegas attack to 'disrespect' for Trump

Robertson has spoken highly of Trump as commander in chief, calling him "God's man for this job." In addition to linking violence like the Las Vegas shooting to disrespect for the President, Robertson also cited recent NFL National Anthem protests.

Once again Trump's sick mind rears its ugly interior and sadly NFL Team Owners are even intimidated. The only reason the anthem and flag waving pollute football games since 2009, is the military pays the NFL millions to perform this act as a recruitment tool. Considering the trouble Trump's caused the NFL owners is amazing they would bow to this demand, especially after Jimmy Jones knelt with his players. But those millions prevailed, as they always do.

Trump once bought into the USFL for $6 million when the going cost of an NFL team was $80 million. As the USFL struggled, Trump convinced the other owners to move from spring to fall and then sue the NFL for anti-trust violations. They won, $1, which became $3 as a penalty and the USFL quickly folded.

Later, Trump tried and failed several times to buy an NFL team. After he was outbid on the Buffalo Bills, he launched into one of his typical tirades, claiming the NFL was in decline, and the winning bid was a loser that paid too much for the team.

In 2016, Trump said that if his bid had won him the Bills he never would have run for president. We should be so lucky.

How long does it take to have someone sing the anthem at the beginning of a game? Less than 5 minutes, right? I don't see how a few moments of silent, kneeling protest at the start of a game could "ruin" football for so many people. The silent, kneeling players aren't stopping you from listening to and enjoying the anthem and then watching and enjoying the game.

So it's not enough for you to eliminate "radical Islamic terrorists", you want to eliminate Islam? You're not going to eradicate a major world religion, which has billions of followers, without a holy war, which is exactly what those "radical Islamic terrorists" want.

A faux rage issue if I ever saw one. Most Trumpsters probably are not even in the room when the anthem is playing. They probably getting their beer and chips and chicken wings ready.

Since the new rule is the players have to stand they will stand. And raise their fists in protest.

Nice work Commissioner Trump.

Brookwood teacher used 'Christian teachings' to lure student for sex, lawsuit claims

www.al.com

"According to the lawsuit, Petrey taught A.W. when she was a freshman and again when she was a junior. In 2013, Petrey told A.W. he had a dream about her, and God told him to tell her that she was beautiful. Peter told A.W. she could talk to him about anything, and she eventually told him she was sexually abused as a child.

In March 2014, the lawsuit states, Petrey invited A.W. to dinner at Olive Garden. They began texting, seeing each other on a regular basis, and having oral sex.

"Over the summer Petrey would take [A.W] to his home to have sex when his wife was out of town. Then, he started taking her to hotels in the Bessemer area to have sex," the complaint shows. The two would eat breakfast and lunch together in his classroom and Petrey would "fondle her underneath a blanket" while he was showing movies in class, records show. The two also took pictures together, including photos in bed, and Petrey saved them into a public folder online."

It isn't ignorance to desire to end poverty; its called compassion.

Ignorance might be believing you can, but the desire is not ignorance.

Ignorance, for instance, is calling Islam a cancer when the issue is religious extremism. Besides, if Islam in America is cancer, the American Conservatism is a streptococcus flesh eating bacteria -- a much more immediate and serious threat that should be dealt with first.
