A man captured on video clinging to the front a school bus, refusing to let go after a bottle was reportedly thrown at his car has been arrested. ... As traffic began to move, the driver remained in front of the bus before jumping on the hood. He beat his fists against the bus and yelled as the driver slowly began inching the bus forward. The driver could be heard telling the man to get off the bus.

Taking it at face value, little Johnny throws a bottle out the window and hits the guys car. The guy gets out and tries to confront the bus driver. The bus driver tries to run the guy over. The guy jumps on the front of the bus and is now, understandably, pissed at the bus driver.

The guy in the POV was not necessarily correct, but the bus driver should probably be facing charges as well. His vehicle WAS responsible for the bottle throwing and HE WAS responsible for trying to run over a pedestrian.

Being next to a bus full of middleschool children is like parking next to a baseball stadium. You assume the risk. Go figure that d***less wonder is in an NRA hat.

A rock n' roll lyric for every occasion, " I fought the law , and the law won "

he should have never touched the bus...stood 5 feet in front and let the bus move forward
and when it touched him, fell to the ground until police arrived

It's like parking next to some crooked car and then being surprised when your door gets dinged. You should've read the signs.

That's ridiculous.

The douchebag on the hood of the school bus has obvious anger issues.

He's also watched 'Mad Max 2, The Road Warrior' to many times ... youtu.be [5:02]

Someone needs to remind this knucklehead that anyone hanging on the front grill are the bad guys.

The bus driver tries to run the guy over.

There is nothing in the story to suggest the bus driver tried to run the angry old man over. The only reason the man was able to climb onto the hood was because the bus driver was barely moving forward.

Same situation but it's a woman that's in front of the bus..and she has a baby in her arms.
she's yelling that her car has been damaged and to call the police..'cause she ain't moving
do you think the bus driver has the right to engage her with his front bumper because he
does it slowly

"fraud" carries a specific legal definition. I assume because you referenced my upstream post
that if he fell down when the bus touched him that a fraudulent claim of injury would ensue.
firstly that would be for a jury to decide, possibly
secondly the driver could not claim that he was unaware of the mans presence which then
makes it apparent that he is using his vehicle in a manner that was inappropriate

Bus driver must protect kids from harm first and foremost. We're taught to never allow anyone on bus when kids are there.

I'd have called police and reported man threatening a bus full of kids. But not gone forward unless I was having a bad day.

absolutely...the article said the driver had locked the door. if the guy pulled a gun then move the
bus regardless where the guy is standing. otherwise call dispatch and wait for the cops

PINCH..try to stay up. someone "deserved" getting raped or spit on or lynched or maybe if you
agree with EBERLY, a bottle thrown at them if you think they DESERVE it.
I'm a big boy so i'll take my chances...will you always be there to protect your loved ones in case
they might happen to offend an "EBERLY"

If you're just going to pull stuff out your backside, let's pretend the woman is carrying a donor heart in a cooler and the ice is melting, and the bus driver is the Las Vegas shooter's secret accomplice. Who'd be supporting him then, huh? HUH?!

I rest my case.

I GET IT...you've determined it was a "short bus" so you have some built in empathy..
one more time just for you

i don't think the guy should have did what he did...he should have stood in front of the bus
until the police arrived

you're not allowed to run over people because you disagree

i did not condone what the man did..but please, clearly state your position

do you think the law is on your side if you run over someone that is not presenting
a clear and imminent danger to you or someone else.

if your stopped and he isn't moving and you advance on him..you hit him you go to jail

the old man should have been arrested but so should the bus driver

i rest my case

I can understand defending your car against out of control turds.

But if you're going to talk to a bus driver you do it through a window and at NO time try to force your way onto a school bus.

The blood in Las Vegas still hasn't dried and if that idiot with his NRA hat thinks he came across as anything other than a clear and present danger the police are going to teach him otherwise.

Ablock is right. Old man and bus driver are both wrong. Not every situation has a right and wrong. I think partisan politics is turning some of you into binary thinkers.

#33 | Posted by Sully at 2017-10-10 10:43 AM | Reply | Newsworthy 2

No, the bus driver has an overarching responsibility to protect the underage passengers in his charge. If the old man the mental capacity of a turnip he'd have called the police with the bus number and reported the bottle throwing. By making threats he forced the driver to make decisions that protected his charges. Wearing the NRA hat caused the bus driver to have reasonable fear that he might have a gun and use it against him and the passengers.

I would give the bus driver points for restraint in that he didn't flatten the old fart.

everybody on this site, i assure you, shares your same visceral reaction to one extent or
another.
i spent time in prison with so many different fellows, all nationalities, color, religion, orientation
in other words, a cross section of damn near everyone.
my time was easy...I did it and i got caught. but there were so many folks in there that were
absolutely convinced that what they had done was what "anyone with any common sense
would have done". the jury didn't see it that way.
when you step out your door, it no longer is just about what you think is appropriate. there are
other people with other ideas that you're bound to encounter.
i don't carry a gun because if you piss me off i may shoot you. i recognize that shortcoming on
my part and choose to remain unarmed.
all i'm trying to say is don't be like that old guy...THINK

as for his hat..that's your trigger , totally irrelevant to someone else

Bus drivers are not empowered to be judge jury and executioner for annoying pedestrians. Silly claim to make.

Should have kneeled in front of it in protest. Then half the country would be for him and half would be behind him. It would blow up into a national situation and everyone would argue. Then he could just slip away and never be heard from again while everyone never gets to arguing the actual issue at hand.
