Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

President Donald Trump tweeted Saturday that 25 years of agreements with North Korea have failed, "making fools" of US negotiators. Then he added cryptically that "only one thing will work." ... Asked by reporters later Saturday about the cryptic tweet, Trump would only say: "You'll figure that out pretty soon."

Two or three weeks ago, our resident war hero/highly decorated/government employee/veteran said that we should nuke 'em and "get it over with". Truly a dummass comment, particularly from someone who claims to have actually seen action.

Generally, those that have actually seen action hold it inside. Which is not exactly healthy, granted, but they don't feel a need to puff themselves up. Most of them were just trying to survive and come home and see that their buds did, too.

Scarborough: Trump Asked Foreign Policy Expert "If We Have Them, Why Can't We Use Them?"

In a classical war scenario we would have to mass a force of 1 to 2 million troops along the border. They will need to be feed and housed. In addition mechanized artillery pieces and ground support aircraft will have to be prepared as well. Supply lines will have to be coordinated to bring ammo and food to the front and carry wounded and prisoners to the rear. Assuming a 2 or 3 week engagement costs would be estimated at 20 to 40 billion dollars with half a million casualties.

In comparison, a nuclear deployed Tomahawk only costs 25 million and can be launched 200 miles and 15 minutes away with zero chance of casualties.

Almost all of the political leadership class lives in Pyongyang. Vaporize this target and the NK Army effectively looses it's command and control.

It will be a new moon on the 19th

I think Donald Trump is desperate and crazy enough to gin up a war with North Korea. What other alternative does he have to waylay the Mueller investigation. As a narcissistic sociopath he's incapable to thinking about anybody but himself ~ even if it cost the lives of millions of people including those of our allies and American soldiers in South Korea and Japan.

The sad thing is that the Republican members in the House of Representatives are aware of this and appear, at least on the surface, to be willing partners as they watch Trump's march toward the nuclear option. The Senate seems to be coming to its senses ~ in a too little, too late sort of way.

We're all watching helplessly as Trump deteriorate into psychologically induced episodes of lunacy. We don't know from one minute to the next when he's going to go completely off the rails or what will trigger the ultimate breakdown.

So we sit and wait . . . and watch . . . and try not to envision the disaster that awaits the world.

Of course they can. They could grow a spine and put aside their party differences right now, long enough to unify as a group. Right now they all act like they're scared to death of getting primaried on the word of a lunatic who is a known liar. Maybe they've been playing their political wack-a-mole so long they've forgotten that their primary responsibility is the country and NOT their petty partisan grandstanding. If they had the guts to find out, it's likely their approval rating would soar.

Cowards like Trump would scatter like a roach looking for a crack in the woodwork. Everybody in the country knows that Trump is seriously deranged. What's congress waiting for? If they're waiting for Mueller, it could be too late by then. In Trump's addled brain, a preemptive strike on North Korea would be killing two birds with one stone.

If anyone thinks Trump isn't watching the clock on Mueller, guess again.

zero chance of casualties? More like 100% of casualties. 15 minutes is long enough to press a lot of red buttons. Also plenty of time to get the head honcho into one of the known underground bunkers in pyongyang that were built for just such a situation. Once they were aware of a missile heading for the peninsula NK would have nothing to lose and would open up on SK.

There is no quick and easy win scenario
