Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Thursday, October 05, 2017

Two decades ago, the Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein invited Ashley Judd to the Peninsula Beverly Hills hotel for what the young actress expected to be a business breakfast meeting. Instead, he had her sent up to his room, where he appeared in a bathrobe and asked if he could give her a massage or she could watch him shower, she recalled in an interview. "How do I get out of the room as fast as possible without alienating Harvey Weinstein?" Judd said she remembers thinking. An investigation by The New York Times found previously undisclosed allegations against Weinstein stretching over nearly three decades, documented through interviews with current and former employees and film industry workers, as well as legal records, emails and internal documents from the businesses he has run, Miramax and the Weinstein Company.

During that time, after being confronted with allegations including sexual harassment and unwanted physical contact, Weinstein has reached at least eight settlements with women, according to two company officials speaking on the condition of anonymity. Among the recipients, The Times found, were a young assistant in New York in 1990, an actress in 1997, an assistant in London in 1998, an Italian model in 2015 and [Lauren] O'Connor shortly after, according to records and those familiar with the agreements.

In a statement to The Times on Thursday afternoon, Weinstein said: "I appreciate the way I've behaved with colleagues in the past has caused a lot of pain, and I sincerely apologize for it. Though I'm trying to do better, I know I have a long way to go."

We get it. Everyone knows people in the entertainment industry are filth. We just don't know why the GOP keeps elevating them to positions of power.

Back on topic, Weinstein is probably done in the near term in Hollywood, no one is going to want to be buying content from a company he runs. Stories like this tend to snowball, I am sure that more allegations will surface now that the dam has burst, so to speak.

You are missing the point(s) (which I will admit you only tend to do when you want to, unlike most of the DR Left): This kind of behavior is rampant in Hollywood, which is dominated by holier than thou so called "Progressive" Democrats who turn a blind eye to it when it is one of their own. When it is someone on the other side of the aisle, however, they scream bloody murder and call for a public lynching. Hypocrisy at its finest.

According to today's Hollywood Reporter, both the Obama and Clinton camps are meeting with their advisors to do damage control over this. Wonder why that is...?

BREITBART – CHARLIE SPIERING

Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein had a close relationship with President Barack Obama, visiting the White House complex on 13 occasions during the Obama presidency, according to visitor records.

Nine of his visits were with President Obama himself, including some events together with first lady Michelle Obama.

Other visits were with high-level staffers Valerie Jarrett, Michelle Obama's aide Melissa Winter, and Jeremy Weinstein, who served on the National Security Council between 2009 and 2011.

Pretty sure the GOP never thought of Trump as a standout family guy, which is why the "Never Trump" movement got started (and ultimately failed spectacularly).

To be fair, it did accomplish helping keep Sec. Clinton out of the White House. The perception that even Republicans weren't going to vote for Trump most likely contributed to Mrs. Clinton's campaigns missteps, and it likely drove more of the apathetic voters to the ballot boxes to show their disfavor with the status quo leadership.

"...and it likely drove more of the apathetic voters to the ballot boxes to show their disfavor with the status quo leadership." - #42 | Posted by Avigdore at 2017-10-07 10:46 AM

And, yet, the reality is that Secretary Clinton got 3,000,000 more votes (from voters, apathetic or not) at the ballot boxes.

That's hardly showing "disfavor with the status quo leadership."

#43 | Posted by Hans at 2017-10-07 10:53 AM | Reply

And that shows exactly the value of the popular vote. If the NeverTrump movement spurred on any of the voters in the few contested states to show up at the polls and vote for Trump, then my statement stands. If it caused 3 million more voters to show up in California...What difference – at this point, what difference does it make? California 50% +1 means nothing more than California 100% in the race for the Presidency.
