Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Thursday, September 14, 2017

The top congressional Democrats on Wednesday night said they reached a deal with President Donald Trump to shield about 800,000 young immigrants from deportation -- without the president's proposed border wall as a condition. "We had a productive meeting at the White House with the President. The discussion focused on DACA," Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi said in a statement following a White House dinner with Trump. "We agreed to enshrine the protections of DACA into law quickly, and to work out a package of border security, excluding the wall, that's acceptable to both sides," they added.

He'll do anything for a "win" of any sort legislatively.

If they pass a bill that gets signed into law.....at least we will have restored a bit of civic normality.

If he's that desperate, your side is winning. Be happy about that because dozens of my students just might get to stay when for months they thought they'd be deported. I'm sitting on this news until it's signed into law, but I can't wait to tell my students that their is legitimate hope moving forward.

I think Donnie just wants to notch a couple of wins. Period. If he has to screw his base and give Democrats what they want, so be it.

If nothing else it will be hilarious to watch the RW sycophants who aggressively supported him either:

1. Express 'outrage' over his betrayal of conservative policies as if the more principled side of the right never warned them of this likelihood.

2. Downplay this.

3. Go into full hypocrite-mode (something they are comfortable with) and defend this like the good little cultists they are.

I hope Beach's students are deported and pressed into indentured servitude by the Mexican drug cartels.

Deflections are a dime a dozen, and over-priced at that.

I'm glad Trump has woken up to reality: he can not deport 800,000 dreamers. It's practically impossible and morally reprehensible.

#8 Looks like your analysis is spot on, Jeff. Take a look at the comment section of this Breitbart article on the potential DACA deal:

Donald is threatening to Fire! the Republicans for not producing the required legislation to make him look good.

He can make trade-offs he doesn't really care about with Dems .... there isn't much he REALLY cares about... declare victory when anything at all gets passed, and feel the love.

His base may be about to become the Evangels after they helped GW get elected.... nobodies.

Trump will learn that if he wants "victories" he needs to pursue policies that help people, not screw them over. It is pretty simple actually. DACA and the debt ceiling deal with the Dems are two good examples.

Marco Rubio would keep Barack Obama's executive order on amnesty intact. See article. Cannot be President.

"But notice that the 32 percent of Trump voters supporting deportation is significantly lower than the 40 percent of Trump primary voters who hold that position. Trump's primary voters -- the core base of support that powered him to the Republican nomination and then the presidency -- is more supportive of deporting DACA recipients than anyone else.

Trump expressing bafflement that anyone could want to deport DACA recipients is, in a sense, like Trump wondering aloud if there were actually people who would have supported Trump in July 2015. Trump's presidency was built on the people who Trump now speculates couldn't possibly exist."

Put Sniper down as a #2 on Jeff's list!

On topic, it's good to see that Dreamers may not be screwed after all with the cancellation of DACA. Enshrining DACA protections into law will also protect them from future presidential EOs on the subject. Still not a Trump fan, but this is good news.

It's kind of funny that Democrats can work so much better with Trump than Republicans can work with, well, anyone.

All they have to do is come up with $500,000 and Jared will sell them a Green Card.

They can buy a Green Card but can't earn one. The Trumps don't understand the term "earn" because they have never done it. To get money they just screw other people out of it.

The Buffoon retains its stripes.

WASHINGTON -- President Donald Trump ruled out citizenship for young immigrants facing deportation in six months, under pressure Thursday from hard-liners who accused him of embracing amnesty in a deal he cut with Democrats.

The deal won't include funding for a controversial border wall, though as the day wore on and fallout mounted, he projected increasingly tough stands on border security and so-called Dreamers -- the nearly 800,000 immigrants brought into the country illegally before age 16.

By day's end, Trump asserted that he won't cave on demands for a wall, and will insist on "extreme security" before putting his signature on a measure to codify the Obama-era policy he rescinded nine days earlier, called Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. www.dallasnews.com

That's as of 5:00p.m. Thur. What cometh with the morning twit storm?

Trump's base isn't going anywhere. They don't CARE what he does. They will support him to the death.

Sorry GOP. Trump has figured out he can literally do anything and his base will love him. And that includes screwing the GOP.

The hated MSM was right. Deal with it suckers.
