Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Tuesday, September 12, 2017

Jaguar, having freshly committed to electrifying all of its cars from 2020 onward, has today also unveiled a new all-electric automobile, which is based on its sleek E-type from the 1960s. The new E-type Zero keeps the classic styling, which was once lauded as "the most beautiful car in the world" by Enzo Ferrari, while introducing a bespoke electric powertrain that produces up to 220kW of power. It will take you from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds, which isn't quite Tesla territory in terms of acceleration, but let's be honest, no Tesla has ever looked quite this dashingly gorgeous.

The E-type Zero roadster is said to have a real-world range of 270 km (just under 170 miles) thanks to a 40kWh battery that can be fully recharged in six to seven hours.

Just look at it.

Just. Look.

A coworker tows his bass fishing boat behind his jaguar, and later complains about his frequent car trouble. I judge all Jag owners based off of this guy.

Jaguar, when you want to spend a lot of money for a paperweight.

The Jaguar E-type...like young Sofia Loren on wheels. Damned sexy.

The Jag XK140 was prettier. and man, the engine was beautiful.

The English aren't comfortable unless their cars leak oil so I dunno what they're gonna do with electric.

#5 I wasn't going to argue the basic premise of the article. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The E-type was sexy, though. Personally, I think there are some rare cars out there that are more beautiful. '36 Mercedes Roadster...'25 Rolls Rounddoor Phantom (I might have the name wrong)...and lets not forget the '69 Camaro Z28 and '63 Corvette. Or the Austin Boattail.

This is the car I fell in love with when I was a kid. There is no car more gorgeous than the E-Type Jag. I've driven the '69 Camaro and the '63 Corvette. They may "go", but they don't have the look.

The E-Type is a graceful looking car. But it's not as pretty as the '37 Talbot Lago:

Sex Yes, but two seats limits it's usefulness.

Yeah, but the Talbot was before I was born. I was old enough to drive in '64.

Along with Volvo, BMW, Benz? Maybe they should hire you on as a consultant. You seem to know things nobody else does.

Much as we'd like to fantasize that they'd actually do it, Don't see it happening as shown in the video. It certainly couldn't be imported here without some changes that would destroy the lines and spirit of the original.

Dang.

I love it. Lets bring all convertibles back to a time where a rollover was head pulverizing instant death.
