Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Although President Donald Trump promised that his family company would not participate or pursue business with foreign government agencies or entities while he's in office, a major construction firm owned by the Chinese government was hired to work on the latest Trump golf club in Dubai, according to McClatchy DC. DAMAC Properties, a partner of the Trump Organization at Trump World Golf Club Dubai, awarded the Middle East subsidiary of China State Construction Engineering Corporation a $32 million contract. The company, one of the largest in the world, was blacklisted by the World Bank for fraud and corruption.

Press releases from the companies state the agreement was made in early 2017, around Trump's inauguration. If the deal was made after his victory, it could potentially violate the Emoluments Clause, a Constitutional anti-bribery provision dictating federal officials may not receive gifts from foreign governments. Breaking the clause is considered an impeachable offense. A Trump Organization official told McClatchy the deal involves infrastructure work around the hospitality development, and is unrelated to the golf club. The course is set to open in 2018.

even if absolute proof came out tomorrow that says trump absolutely cheated in the 2016 election with the help of russia and putin himself gave trump money and support, and trump admitted it on prime time news, trump supporters would yell fake news and continue to support him.

Obama and Clinton run guns through Libya to Syria

Left's response: nothing to see here

A company partner of one of Trump's companies hires a Chinese firm to build a golf course in a foreign country

Fine... Connect the dots. Prove that Hillary and Obama ran guns. And then, more importantly, show how they profited from it. THAT would compare apples to apples.

Sure, you may disagree with how our country operates, but hypothetically, if they DID run guns (or really have guns run), then I assume they did it on behalf of our government and society. For the good of our government and society. Unless you can prove otherwise. You can disagree over whether it accomplishes those goals, but we disagree all the time over what is the best course for our country. That doesn't mean people are "evil" or "breaking the law".

So tell me... Is Trump violating the emoulments clause for the good of our government and society? Or is he just doing it for his own profit? With the complicity of Republicans and "conservatives". Because that actually WOULD put him in the "evil" or "breaking the law" realm that you keep trying to maneuver Hillary and Obama into.

"So tell me..."

people like Mustang don't care... They'd love to see Trump shoot a random lefty on the streets of NYC. They feed off blood and suffering and not goodness for the country. Just an us vs them mentality.

There isn't evidence that the CIA actively facilitated running guns from Libya to Syria.

However, there is considerable amounts of photo & video evidence that Libyan stockpiles of specific weapons, such as the French made Milan AT missles of which Gaddafi had a large amount of, flooded into Syria, just in time to halt Assad's early armored successes and greatly prolong the war. This is classic US secret warfare. We did it to the Russians in Afghanistan. We don't arm people ourselves, there is no plausible deniability if they show up with factory fresh Javelins. The Russians in turn have learned this lesson, and the Ukranian "rebels" use only equipment that is also in the Ukranian military arsenal.

Connect the dots? How about just read the reports?

First, the attack in Benghazi made people ask some questions like "What the hell are we doing in Benghazi?"

Second, they got outed:

Then, Obama said he was going to do it without acknowledging it was already happening:

Finally, in 2015, a DIA memo from 2012 was released that confirmed the US was running guns out of Libya to Syria.

Profit? You suddenly are concerned about politicians profiting from their office? Like that 2012 $1M birthday present to Bill Clinton from Qatar? The same Qatar that was flying C-17's full of guns from Libya to Turkey via the US air base in Qatar so that Turkey could deliver them to Syrian rebels? That Qatar? Not that I'm even saying that Trump is profiting from this golf course effort: a partner company hired a Chinese company to build a golf course.

Your point is that if someone else is a crook, that excuses your crook.

Not going to work that way.

#12 Not my point whatsoever. My first point was that finding the headline story an egregious violation of Presidential power while ignoring actual egregious violations of Presidential power is classic hypocrisy. My second point is that the headline story probably doesn't even qualify as an egregious violation of Presidential power.

We're going to have to put it all to the test. If we can't nail such an obvious bastard as Trump we are weaklings and ninnies indeed.

If the man goes to prison, the people who actually miss him may be limited to far less than five.
