Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

The Pasco County Sheriff is asking Floridians not to shoot at Hurricane Irma because it will not impact its damage path. During a tweet Saturday evening, the sheriff explained "To clarify, DO NOT shoot weapons @ #Irma. You won't make it turn around & it will have very dangerous side effects." The tweet linked to a story explaining that 22-year-old Ryon Edwards was bored and started a Facebook event encouraging Floridians to fire their weapons at the hurricane to get it to turn around. Thus far, 46,000 people have RSVP'd to the event.

"A combination of stress and boredom made me start the event," he told the BBC in an interview.

Elmer 'BOAZ' Fudd was last seen going outside with shotgun.

Guess he wasn't after wabbits.

What began as a local Facebook group meme slowly became regional "serious news," lol.

In 1959, Project Plowshare came up with the idea of nuking a hurricane with an h-bomb (I think that would just create a radioactive hurricane, but anyway here is the article): news.nationalgeographic.com

... "A combination of stress and boredom made me start the event," he told the BBC in an interview. ...

I'd offer that there may also be a large amount of stupidity and not knowing the consequences of one's actions involved.

The state voted for trump.

Of course they're dumb enough to shoot at a hurricane.

And here I thought the warning to not shoot at the spaceship in the independence day movie was just a tongue in cheek reference.

Sad thing is that I can't tell if this is supposed to be satire or not.

OK shooting at hurricanes is pretty stupid. But why not the mother of all bombs, like we dropped on Afghanistan for entertainment value. It might disrupt the hurricanes path or intensity.
