Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Wednesday, August 23, 2017

About 5,000 carrot-colored ecstasy tablets in the shape of Donald Trump's head have been seized by German police in the northwestern city of Osnabruck. The drugs were confiscated over the weekend, police say, and an Austrian father and son have been arrested. It's thought the drugs would have been sold on the internet under the slogan "Trump makes partying great again." One side of the tablets shows Trump's face and exuberant hairstyle while the president's surname is written on the reverse.

Date rape pills look like Trump

How appropriate.

Ecstasy is no more of "date rape" drug than coffee.

To clarify, we could define a date rape drug as a substance introduced into the body to facilitate the sexual assault of the person into whose body it has been introduced. By that definition, any substance that 1) significantly impairs judgement and/or the physical ability to fight back and 2) is used to facilitate sexual assault could be fairly regarded as a date rape drug. Per post #3, MDMA qualifies. Or am I missing something?

#11 | Posted by DirkStruan at 2017-08-22 09:02 PM | Reply

You people are idiots. Date rape drugs are sedatives that incapacitate the target victim. Ecstacy is not a sedative. It is the opposite.

MDMA is a powerful date rape drug when mixed with colorful fruity drinks and Depeche Mode.

Caffeine and sugar are date rape drugs. Get your date high on expresso and a chocolate fudge sundae, and you'll be knocking boots all night long.

#16 | Posted by nullifidian at 2017-08-23 02:50 PM | Reply

Date rape drugs are a serious problem that should not be compared to caffeine and sugar.

Nor XTC.

What I see here is not really people comparing caffeine and sugar with date rape drugs but saying XTC is not a date rape drug just like caffeine and sugar is not a date rape drug XTC and caffeine and sugar are all drugs but they are not date rape drugs

Here, I will repost it for you:

So? What's the problem? Where is the flaw?

It's carefully crafted such that any substance that can induce non-sobriety is a date rape drug.

The usual definition is a substance that incapacitates the victim.

All the people I've seen on MDMA were by no means incapacitated.

If a person on MDMA is tripping out on the sensations they're feeling and decides sex in that state sounds pretty damned good (a common occurrence by those using it in my college years, never me), does that constitute sexual assault?

And what is wrong with that definition?

"The usual definition is a substance that incapacitates the victim."

What I am asking is why that definition is better than mine? Also, is it really the usual definition? It was not the one in the links upthread.

"If a person on MDMA is tripping out on the sensations they're feeling and decides sex in that state sounds pretty damned good (a common occurrence by those using it in my college years, never me), does that constitute sexual assault?"

Depends: is judgment impaired?

And what is wrong with that definition?

About 90% of human sexual relations could be classified as sexual assault by that definition.

What I am asking is why that definition is better than mine? Also, is it really the usual definition?

Because the point of using the drugs is to mitigate resistance.

Depends: is judgment impaired?

If they're using a substance that changes their state of mind how could you argue otherwise?

"About 90% of human sexual relations could be classified as sexual assault by that definition."

90% of sexual relations are the result of the introduction of substances designed to facilitate non-consensual sex throw them the impairment of judgement or the ability to fight back? Really?

"Because the point of using the drugs is to mitigate resistance.
www.google.com"

...your link lists recreational drugs as date rape drugs (the Wikipage). It supports my definition, not yours...

"If they're using a substance that changes their state of mind how could you argue otherwise?"

Well then, sex with someone unable to consent is sexual assault, surely.

You really are an idiot, aren't you? Or you're about 19 years old.

The JOKE was that 90% of human sexual encounters occur because people get drunk/high and horny.

...your link lists recreational drugs as date rape drugs (the Wikipage). It supports my definition, not yours...

Only if you ignore my post and read those links superficially (of course it would be recreational drugs, moron, they have to be widely available).

The drugs listed are depressants/sedatives. In other words, angrydad's post is spot on.

Well then, sex with someone unable to consent is sexual assault, surely.

Can people only consent when sober?

That was the question you dodged with your perfect snowflake answer.

Not the ones in the Wikipedia article. Or the ones in the link upthread.

"Can people only consent when sober?"

No, but a person can be too impaired to consent.

Alright, serious question.

Are you old enough to have had legal drunk sex?

Not the ones in the Wikipedia article. Or the ones in the link upthread.

You don't actually understand the words in my posts or in the wiki article, do you?

"Can people only consent when sober?"
No, but a person can be too impaired to consent.

You realize that, by your standards, you've admitted to supporting sexual assault, right?

What the hell are you talking about? The articles confirm my definition. You are the one saying that only drugs that knock a person out are date rape drugs.

"You realize that, by your standards, you've admitted to supporting sexual assault, right?"

Where have I done any such thing?

en.m.wikipedia.org

www.medicinenet.com

Both of these links identify club drugs and alcohol as substances used as date rape drugs, and for the very reasons I give.
