Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

If North Korea launches an attack that threatens the United States then China should stay neutral, but if the United States attacks first and tries to overthrow North Korea's government China will stop them, a Chinese state-run newspaper said on Friday. President Donald Trump ratcheted up his rhetoric toward North Korea and its leader on Thursday, warning Pyongyang against attacking Guam or U.S. allies after it disclosed plans to fire missiles over Japan to land near the U.S. Pacific territory.

China has long worried that any conflict on the Korean peninsula, or a repeat of the 1950-53 Korean war, could unleash a wave of destabilizing refugees into its northeast, and could end up with a reunified county allied with the United States.

Anyone who knows anything about the Korean War isn't surprised by this, this has been China's policy since the Mao took over in 1949.

Meanwhile there's been some back-channel comms between US and NK, according to the AP.

Beyond Bluster, U.S., North Korea in Regular Contact
www.bloomberg.com

...Beyond the bluster, the Trump administration has been quietly engaged in back channel diplomacy with North Korea for several months, addressing Americans imprisoned in the communist country and deteriorating relations between the long-time foes, The Associated Press has learned.

It had been known the two sides had discussions to secure the June release of an American university student. But it wasn't known until now that the contacts have continued, or that they have broached matters other than U.S. detainees....

Well if Trump responds as he seemed to tweet China won't have to worry...

One issue I have is North Korea's continual rhetoric and escalations - for decades - on the matter. It's time for some sort of resolution. I am NOT saying we should attack them. But it's time for China to spank Kim HARD - as according to the saying a kid like that only understands one thing.

I hear all these politicians and pundits talking about "negotiating" with Kim Jung Un. Sorry but he has threatened to shoot missiles at Guam (do any of us really know where he actually intends to shoot those missiles?) Sorry, didn't support the invasion of Iraq because it was based on lies but if Kim shoots a missile anywhere near any American territory then I support 100% the total annihilation of Pynongyang. To do less would just invite further attacks. Those talking about "negotiating" at this point in time are idiots refusing to look at reality.

Well, Trump said "if you do this" and Kim did. Still nothing in response.
Tough guy on Twitter there, Mr, Trump. You are mayor of Chumpville; population: you and your voters.

Threatened to shoot missiles at Guam, if the US invades North Korea.

How about we not invade or otherwise bombard North Korea? Too much to ask?
