Walmart wants you to get ready for the school year, with guns. A display case at a local Walmart in Indiana containing an assortment of rifles recently had a sign over it proclaiming: "Own the school year like a hero" Walmart later apologized: "Walmart responded to the tweet, apologizing and saying the display would "NEVER be okay" in their stores."

Sounds like the sign was on the wrong display. Or some anti gun nut moved the sign to embarrass Walmart. More likely.

Strange but true fact from Texas. In the first few years of the operation of Baylor University down in Waco, students,(all male) were required to carry firearms to class every day. Seems the were still having problems with the Comanche. I learned to shoot well in high school, in the JROTC. I probity was in the most uncool sect in high school. I was an Eagle Scout too. Double uncool points. Add going to Bible Study every morning and I was a pariah. But I had the fortune to attend my 35th High School reunion, the cool kids who tormented me most were mostly dead. Life is best lived honest. Conforming yourself to another's image of what you should be causes a lot of stress.
Guns are just tools. The are tools that propel a metal projectile at a predictable trajectory. They are neither good or bad. They are not romantic or some work of art, they do not make history, men do. They are not particularly dangerous in the hands of an individual who knows what he is doing, What counts is intent. With intent, an individual can kill with a kitchen knife. With intent an individual can buy a couple of tons of fertilizer and blow up a building full of people.

Stop pretending that guns are comparable to kitchen knives. They are far more lethal. Why do you think gun admirers love them so much and get so weepy when the NRA tells them their gun rights are under threat? In the logic of your comment they'd be just as safe with cutlery.

I'm sorry this story is funny to me. I guess all of you have never worked in retail or restaurants with 16-25 years olds. It's not a mystery to me how this may have happened. First guess is some kid or bored almost adult (I'm half sure an employee) thought it would be funny, or a customer around that age. Second guess and completely plausible, some half brain dead possible high employee was putting them on end caps and did't even notice it was guns.

But all this outrage is ridiculous!

SMH wrong. And ------- retarded.

War hammers were developed to counter plate armor, as swords, lances and axes had become ineffective against the level of armor achieved during the late middle ages.

As gaps in armor had gotten smaller concussive weapons were developed to enable the transfer of energy into armored targets to disable them long enough for a kill through the gaps in the armor.

So "war" hammers weren't meant for "killing people", but for collapsing armor and disabling opponents.

:)

Ummm . . . You just said that the hammers were meant to disable them long enough to kill them. Then you said they weren't meant to kill them. Distinction without a difference.

I'll play along too : a gun isn't meant to kill people. It's merely meant to fire a bullet at high velocity. The two, as you can see, are completely unrelated.

"My intent of my guns are to protect myself and my property. Same as the locks on my doors."

As with millions of others though, your "intent" often isn't the actual reality and innocent family members die because you mistook them for intruders. Or your kids found your gun. Or you just had a very bad day and shot one of them. Or you got drunk and murdered your wife. Or, or, or.....the list goes on. Guns are not appropriate items to keep in your home. Simple as that. Please don't respond negatively because I fear you will have a real life episode that will prove my point. Be smart. Listen, don't speak. Get your guns out of your home. Put them some place where children can't reach them, you can't reach them in an angry moment, thieves can't steal them. Do yourself a favor, listen.

The most ridiculous statement ever made on this site. Of course guns are meant to kill people. It's unbelievable that anyone would state otherwise. That is all they are intended to be used for. Target practice is just preparation for killing people. Guns are for killing, to pretend otherwise is ridiculous.

Pinkybrain, it doesn't matter that cars kill more people because cars primary use isn't killing. We've already had this discussion a few comments up.

Besides, cars are designed to mitigate killing people as much as possible while guns are designed to do exactly the opposite.

In my county you have to register pistols with the city to own and have them legally. You don't if you live outside the city limits. You don't have to register long guns (they'd like you to but you don't have to). I only comply with what I have to. Screw them it's all about the money anyway. As long as you don't put on the registration that your intent is to go kill someone you can buy and register the gun in a day (if you start early in the day anyway) Also have to pay for a permit with the sheriffs office to be able to buy a gun (just hand guns) hand gun purchasing permit... Smh money money money....

I am for the average individual having access to hand guns, especially the vertically challenged ones with the XX chromosome. Take a 100 pound woman vs. a 200 pound man. With a hand gun, the woman has more than a equal chance of surviving. She has no chance without one. Most concealed carry, (the ones that actually carry often)I know are women. I have used a fire arm to prevent crime twice. Once, to stop an individual from being beat to death and another was to dissuade a prowler. Shot into the ground once each time. The miscreants fled. But that is one thing the gun grabbers never bring up. Crimes that are prevented or stopped by the appearance of a fire arm.

#61 | Posted by docnjo at 2017-08-12 07:06 PM | Reply

61 exactly. My daughter doesn't have a gun so she can kill her ex boyfriend. It's so her exboyfriend will worry that if he tries to break into her apartment again, he may be killed. There's a difference. He's still alive, after all, even though she bought the thing over a year ago.

Not at all.

It wasn't the hammer that was used to kill. Just disable. Unless it was repeated blows to a helm. Then it probably killed.

Usually, though, it was the 3 inch steel spike on the opposite side is what was used to kill.

Or a dagger/sword thrust through the gaps in armor (ie under the arm into the chest).

But not the hammer. Except for head-hulk-smash type kills.
