Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

President Trump has publicly called the widening federal investigation into Russia's election meddling a "witch hunt." But through his lawyer, Trump has sent private messages of "appreciation" to special counsel Robert Mueller. "He appreciates what Bob Mueller is doing," Trump's chief counsel John Dowd told USA TODAY in an interview Tuesday. "He asked me to share that with him and that's what I've done." Trump's legal team has been in contact with Mueller's office, and Dowd says he has passed along the president's messages expressing "appreciation and greetings'' to the special counsel. "The president has sent messages back and forth,'' Dowd said, declining to elaborate further.

The Trump legal camp cast the communications as a sign that the president is willing to cooperate with Mueller, whose office declined to comment, and former federal prosecutors say there are no rules that would prevent a president from passing along messages to the special counsel through an attorney.

Even so, Trump's private communications represent a "striking" contradiction with his public condemnations of the Russia investigation, said Jimmy Gurule, a former assistant attorney general in the George H.W. Bush administration.

You mean Trump's twitter shout-outs to him aren't enough?

If you read the article, it seems to say that his private messages are a 180 from his tweets.

Bizarre that his lawyer would allow this.

"It took guts for director Comey to make the move that he made," Trump said of the FBI chief's decision to make public the bureau's revived probe into Hillary Clinton's private email server. "It took a lot of guts."

Oh, the good old days...

"I just wanted to write and say how much I appreciate this witch hunt, I mean, investigation. I hope you find everything you are looking for.... except for the tape of the ------------- in Russia! Can we keep that private please?

Anything you need just let me know before I fire you... I mean, before you finish your investigation in 2024.

Your bigly friend, the President"

Trump is playing the game trying flattery to influence Mueller. Trump thinks this works, because it works on him.

I doubt Mueller is .00000001% the narcissist that Trump is.

The Conman in Chief had good things to say about Comey shortly before he fired him. Same with Priebus. You can't trust a word he says. He lies about everything. He lies about phone calls that he never had. He lies about never meeting people who there are pictures of him meeting with. The only thing Mueller should do with any communication from Trump is review it to see if it contains any statements that provide evidence in the investigation.

Little d has duped so many for so long that he likely thinks he can charm Mueller into going easy on him.
His trial is going to be epic.

... Trump has sent private messages of "appreciation" to special counsel Robert Mueller. "He appreciates what Bob Mueller is doing," ...

But... but... but... Pres Trump's tweets are his official statements.

Now Pres Trump's lawyer is telling everyone that they aren't, and we should not pay attention to what Pres Trump tweets because they do not represent what Pres Trump really says?

It's Donald's nature both to Dawn and hare over people he sees as being more powerful than he is.

Did Donald send flowers with his love letters? How about chocolates?

The message was the first occasion when a note written in crayon went out on presidential stationary...

Sorry but it's like Trump and Trumpites live in this imaginary world. Is this like his nice talks with Comey about Flynn and such? I mean really. WTF gives here. Did he do it and then told his lawyers or what? First thing the Lawyers would tell you is: "Keep you big trap shut - PERIOD. Anything you say WILL be used against you." At least that's what every lawyer I know personally or who's services I have used has told me.

He tried to warn him not to look directly at his taxes. Or the demons would consume him with "Fire and Fury".

His trial lmao if there was proof of wrongdoing it would be out already but you libs can keep dreaming your wet dream, ---- Hillary has a better chance of going to prison than Trump

Why won't you wait until after we see Donald's finances to exonerate him?

Once he's forced from office, it won't be that big of jump to send him to prison.

"...to send him to prison."

Nah. Unfortunately, President Pence 46 will grant him "a full, free, and absolute pardon".

Part of The Deal, of course.

Trump will never go to prison. (how often do billionaires go to prison? Or billionaire Presidents?)

No Trump will never go to prison. But, he will resign in disgrace and retreat to his golf course(s) never to be heard from again. Hopefully. And that would be good enough for me!

But, I guaranGodDamntee a few of his lackeys are going to jail. Unless they can manage a Deal.
