Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Trump exhibits a penchant for boomeranging himself, and now the witless Bloat has gone and done it again.

This time he's sniped at a US senator over Vietnam War era service, only to bring unwanted attention to his own draft avoidance.

Big difference: The guy who irked Trump actually served in the military.

Donald has convinced himself he's been to war in the same way he convinced himself that what he's doing with Hope is not cheating on his wife.

a 'guy' who lied on the backs of DEAD SOLDIERS........the difference is staggering when you consider the other politicians like that "guy" from Arkansas who was married to 'whats her name'

Donnie is a gutless coward, and has been his entire life.
He does as little for the US as he can get away with. Don't try and deny it.

Sen Blumenthal seems to be relatively immune to attacks on his record. Here's one explanation...

Seven years after exposing a senator's phony war record, the media has moved on
www.poynter.org

...President Trump's new era of Twitter moderation took a predictable U-turn on his first day of vacation as he bashed Sen. Richard Blumenthal as a "phony Vietnam con artist" who lied about a military past.

Blumenthal's real transgression was the same as the "failing" media Trump harps on, namely bringing up all that sticky Russian stuff. As for regurgitating Blumenthal's own personal deceit of long ago, the great self-image maker is spinning his wheels, as journalists who know Blumenthal well can attest.

"The story died surprisingly fast here, even in 2010," says Mark Pazniokas of the Connecticut Mirror...

"The national talking heads pronounced him DOA," he recalls, after The New York Times broke the 2010 story about Blumenthal, Connecticut's former attorney general, fabricating service in Vietnam.

But his support proved stable and the cable news pundits moved on. Pro wrestling mogulette Linda McMahon (now Trump's small business chief), "who had a campaign budget of $50 million in a state where $10 million is a decent campaign bankroll, tried to resurrect the issue closer to the election with massive media buys. They didn't take."...

And another article from a CT news site...

Trump attacks on Blumenthal may have political and personal roots
ctmirror.org

...President Donald Trump has disparaged other U.S. senators, but no one has been targeted more than Sen. Richard Blumenthal, who perhaps for a number of reasons -- both political and personal -- has gotten under the president's skin.

"I have no idea about what is in his mind," said Blumenthal on CNN late Monday afternoon. "What I do know is I will not be distracted by this bullying."

Blumenthal is one of the most liberal senators in Congress and often appears on television to criticize Trump's policies.

He is the lead plaintiff in a lawsuit filed against Trump in June that alleges Trump violates the emoluments clause of the Constitution. Blumenthal is also a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee that is pressing hard to investigate whether there was any link between the Trump campaign and Russian interference in the 2016 elections and was one of the first lawmakers to say there may have been collusion.

"Blumenthal has been through his career a prosecutor, and that may make him particularly irritating to Trump," said Ronald Schurin, a political science professor at the University of Connecticut....

Trump was successful in dodging the draft. Like almost every member of congress, he never served a day in uniform. At least he hires veterans, he has more generals in his White House than anyone other POTUS has ever had. Good Lord, discipline in the White House? People doing what they are told? Subordinates being held responsible for their behavior? Security being up held? What a difference an election can make. At least Trump likes the Military, unlike the Clintons and Obama.

Sounds cool. Is that going to start soon?

#10 | Posted by REDIAL, the new chief of staff will make a difference. He cleaned up the DHS in six months. He is discipline personified. Trump needs him. Trump has not a disciplined bone in his body. If you have ever been in the service, you have had an a**chewing. Generals are experts at a**chewings. They are also ready to relieve anyone they believe can not or will not do what they are expected to accomplish. This is going to be interesting. Trump might loose some weight on his posterior.

You know who was the last POTUS to replace his Chief of Staff with a general?

Nixon.

Just sayin'.

None of these things are happening in Trump's White House. How could you have missed the 1,000 news stories making this clear? There's no discipline at all, and it starts with the undisciplined man-baby you voted for.

Deflecting to Bill Clinton is weak. He hasn't been president for almost 20 years. The subject of this discussion is the disastrous president you are supporting, whether or not you voted for him.

By the way, people who golf with Trump say he lies about his score all the time. Even your completely random insult of Clinton ends up being another of Trump's many faults.

sure he did....and trump didn't...just like clinton and so many others...

but just like mccain and clelland and Duckworth.....as we have seen in the immediate past...

no service or sacrifice gives you a free pass to lie... or give you some 'right to never be wrong'....OR criticized

"let me save some of you some time..
but...but... trump lies"

Which you're okay with, due to the letter after the name.

"Your response is based on nothing."

Except your posting history.

You bitch all the time about other people's lies, yet not one peep when the CiC and his son Junior play you for a chump.

TO BE CLEAR

I can absolutely defend Trump against the hypocritical and sometimes flat out lies about him and still have concern and

be aware of times when it appears that he was less than honest. I understand how that sort of level headed, common sense

approach can be "strange" to some leftist appeasers and a 'democrat steno pool media'.

You see, I've been here longer than you and I understand how this works and no better example is JeffJ who I have said

many times....."these people will NEVER stop hating you regardless of how many times you write some "agreeable"

statement.

my original statement stands....this DEMOCRAT committed an egregious lie, made worse to us who lost childhood friends

in that stupid war.

" and be aware of times when it appears that he was less than honest."

Any posts backing up that claim?

"my original statement stands....this DEMOCRAT committed an egregious lie"

Meanwhile, Putin knew before you did that Junior was lying, and not a peep from you condemning it.

"riiight.....not a chance"

You're joking, right? Junior lied about the reason for the meeting, then Daddy dictated a lie you're still lapping up. Putin knew the truth before you did, and Donnie & The Junior tried to play you for a chump, even to the point of calling themselves transparent for releasing what the NYT was just about to release.

"this and that......and "the music goes 'round and 'round " .....and we're right back where we started."

And "where we started" is you refusing to call out certain liars, specifically the ones with (R)s after their name.

#31 | Posted by Danforth at 2017-08-09 01:05 PM | Reply

"where that is not just rare but virtually non-existent "

What a riot.

Junior lies, Daddy adds more lies, and both expect you to lap it up and refuse to demand the truth. And you fall for it, repeatedly.

I'm sure they're thankful for your lack of spine.
