Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Charles Blow, New York Times: Donald Trump is the reigning king of American victimhood. He is unceasingly pained, injured, aggrieved. The primaries were unfair. The debates were unfair. The general election was unfair. "No politician in history -- and I say this with great surety -- has been treated worse or more unfairly," he laments. People refuse to reach past his flaws -- which are legion! -- and pat him on the back. People refuse to praise his minimal effort and minimal efficacy. They refuse to ignore that the legend he created about himself is a lie. People's insistence on truth and honest appraisal is so annoying. It's all so terribly unfair.

Trump's whining is not some clever Machiavellian tactic, precisely tuned for these times. Trump's whining is genuine. He pretends to be ferocious, but is actually embarrassingly fragile. His bravado is all illusion. The lion is a coward. And, he licks his wounds until they are raw.

Substitute "Donald Trump" with the name of any DR rightwinger and it reads exactly the same.

I agree except that there are a few DR wingdings that are not playing along with Trump's corruption. They were hoping that this would pan out and now that they see that it will not, they are staying silent.

Bear in mind that if Trump is officially sanctioned, in some form, it will have to be the repubs who sponsor the action. And that is looking like a very distinct possibility.

I'm shocked that the Hillary voters aren't tops in the whinefest.

And don't forget, it's not as though he escaped a life of poverty through a unique combination of hard work and personal fortitude.

Why, Trump doesn't even belong to that class of the asinine who were born on third but think they hit a triple. Trump is one of the petulant wealthy who were born on third and are trying to whine their way into a home run.

He has always been, and will always be, one who has known nothing but wealth and opportunity. Never has this not been the case.

Trump is the epitome of the worst of US stereotypes: an out of touch, uninformed, uninterested, lazy, belligerent bully who is wholly consumed with bellicose self-promotion, profit and the creation of an unending path of consumption without thought of compromise or repercussion.

Old news. It's already been accepted that the only reason Trump could get elected is because the Dems failed so horribly. A big part of their failure has been to turn the US into a bunch of victims who need to be coddled and given participation trophies. And now the Dems are mad about it??? You made the bed, now sleep in it. Jesus Christ...you do wrong and then you complain about the results. At least Republicans do wrong and let you know they would do it again if it benefited them. Not sure if it's better, but complaining about a problem you specifically caused is just really, really stupid.

Isn't self-victimization the cornerstone of modern conservatism?
