Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Friday, July 14, 2017

The White House says its blueprint balances the budget over the next decade, reining in the deficit from $603 billion this year to a $16 billion surplus in 2027. But the CBO estimates a $720 billion deficit in 2027 -- and more than double the cumulative deficit over the next 10 years. So here's the fundamental mismatch: The CBO says Trump's budget math overestimated economic growth to the tune of $3.4 trillion in tax revenue over next decade. Trump's calculations rest on the assumption that real GDP will increase 3% year-over-year by 2020. But the CBO says not so fast. The nonpartisan agency pegs its estimate around 1.8% -- much closer to the average rate over the last two decades.

Math is for nerds.

Trump's numbers FEEL like they work in the opiate-addled minds of his supporters.

He's nowhere near a bidnessman. He's an arranger. Not even a builder, so long as his buildings have cheap marble and gilded columns, he's a happy camper.

Even you R'wingers are too smart to hire an eleven year old Boy Scout to remodel your house because he has a merit badge in How-to-Swing-a-Hammer. So why did you insist on hiring an amateur to be your president?

"Grabbenfuhrer"

I love the new title for Trump.

I seem to recall a fairly recent President who did cut taxes, did create a bubble, did create the worst recession since the Great Depression. I think that each successive Republican President competes with his predecessor to create an environment even more conducive to greed than their respective predecessor. It's like Dubya, when he was (not)elected I predicted that he would create a worse financial disaster than his father had created with the Savings & Loan Scandal and he did. Now Trump needs to out do Dubya. It isn't surprising in an era of voter suppression, gerrymandering and computer hacking of elections because they no longer really answer to voters, they answer to the billionaires who get them elected.

"Is this just math that you do as a Republican to make yourself feel better, or is this real?"

In the GOP's fact free environment, this budget makes perfect sense.
