Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

President Trump had another awkward handshake on Thursday -- this time with France's first lady, Brigitte Macron -- and a GIF of the moment is already making the rounds on Twitter. ... Trump first kissed Brigitte Macron European-style, once on each cheek, before grasping both her hands for several seconds and jerking her left arm toward him. ... Later, while visiting museums in Paris with the Macrons, Trump looked Brigitte Macron up and down before telling her, "You're in such great shape" and then calling her "beautiful," according to Agence France-Presse reporter Adam Plowright.

BLOTUS: Quite a nice little piece of Gallic tail you got for yourself there, Frenchie.
MACRON: Merci.
BLOTUS: Pass the Freedom Fries. Por favor. And some more cake.
MACRON: Your lemon tart looks very nice.
BLOTUS: Approaching the expiration date, but, hey, not many people can accommodate my large hands. See? See? See?
MACRON: I was talking about the dessert. And, yes, I have seen hands like that: on an obese Corsican midget in a North African sex show down by the wharf in Marseilles. Tres petite.

Obama Apologizes for Praising Attorney General's Looks

President Obama late Thursday night called Kamala Harris, the California attorney general, and apologized to her for telling a group of wealthy donors that she is the "best-looking attorney general in the country."

Mr. Obama made the comment on Thursday morning at a fund-raiser outside San Francisco. He praised Ms. Harris as being "brilliant," adding, "she is dedicated and she is tough" before commenting on her looks.

"You're in such great shape" is a weird thing to say to someone you just met. "Hello, how are you? Nice to meet you. Thank you for hosting us. We are looking forward to our visit" would be more appropriate.

Yes, I'm sure it's a lovely compliment for the French first lady to be told she's beautiful.

The fact that the sentiment was bestowed by someone who looks like the floor of a gypsy cab that's being used to transport the body of a frat brother who died of alcohol poisoning and fell into a deep frier likely blunted said compliment.

"Yes, I'm sure it's a lovely compliment for the French first lady to be told she's beautiful."

I wonder why Macron didn't say the same thing to Melania? Oh, yeah, right, it's inappropriate to comment on another head of state's wife's body when you first meet them.

Gal, I agree with you, but I'm going to give trump a little credit here.

I would have expected him to say something along the lines of "Hey, froggy, your wife's pretty doable."

There's nothing wrong with what Trump said. And I believe Trump only intended to compliment her. You liberals push it for more, as you always will. One thing Trump is, is authentic and genuine. He means what he says and nothing more.

I see nothing wrong with this and neither does the rest of common sense America. We are getting to a bad state of politically correct when you cant even compliment a woman anymore.

We are getting to a bad state of politically correct when you cant even compliment a woman anymore.

It's not about political correctness. It's about an unattractive 71 year old man with a history of womanizing commenting on the First Lady of France's body the first time he meets her. Creepy. It shows one reason why he was a better Miss Universe Pageant owner than he is the President of the United States.

#17 | Posted by Gal_Tuesday at 2017-07-13 02:46 PM | Reply

PS If a First Husband Bill Clinton had made the comment, I'd think it was a Creepy Uncle Bill thing to say--and Bill Clinton is a lot better looking and in a lot better shape than the Donald, although I think they are about the same age.

#18 | Posted by Gal_Tuesday at 2017-07-13 03:03 PM | Reply

I wouldn't call his history "womanizing", Gal.

Moder8 should chime in on this. He's a legit judge of inappropriate things to say to women.

I've said a few stupid things in my day. I congratulated a heavy friend we hadn't seen in a while on being prego. Told a friend that was always a touch too thin that she looked good with a little extra weight on (she had gained weight recently and not on purpose).
Another time I told a woman that her kid had her eyes (I was struggling to pretend to be interested in the baby she was trying to show off). The problem is, she was a white chick, her husband was Asian, and the baby looked Asian.

I wonder if this would be news if he had used a more neutral compliment: "you are looking lovely this evening" or "you are even lovelier in person" or similar. These sentiments too compliment a person's appearance but for some reason seem less... unsettling than "you are in great shape."
