Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Wednesday, July 12, 2017

ABC's political editor Chris Uhlmann didn't pull any punches when he delivered his wrap-up of [President] Trump's appearance at the [G-20] conference, calling him an "uneasy, lonely, awkward figure" who was left "isolated and friendless" with "no desire and no capacity to lead the world." "He has a particular skill set: he's identified an illness in Western democracies, but he has no cure for it and seems intent on exploiting it," the veteran journalist said. And according to Uhlmann, we all need to give up on any hope that the speeches written for Trump and delivered by the man himself are any reflection of his true thoughts. "It's the unscripted Trump that's real: a man who barks out bile in 140 characters, who wastes his precious days as president at war with the West's institutions like the judiciary, independent government agencies, and the free press."

That isn't even newsworthy any longer - it's a foregone fact.

It is truly sad that this reporter was so spot on. The rest of the world is putting Donald at the Kiddie table. American influence is being wasted.

In my lifetime America's international status and influence has never been lower than it is right now under Trump. Not even during the incompetence at the height of the GWB Administration have we seen our allies so willing to ignore our leader and refuse to follow our lead. Unless Trump turns out to be a flukish blip on the radar of world events, history will look back at this presidency and conclude it was when America stopped being the world's leader. It was when international power at the highest level shifted away from a single superpower.
