Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Saturday, June 17, 2017

Sarah Kliff, Vox: This has become more evident each day, as the Senate plots out a secretive path toward Obamacare repeal -- and top White House officials (including the president) consistently lie about what the House bill actually does. There was even a brief moment Tuesday where Senate Republicans flirted with the idea of banning on-camera interviews in congressional hallways, a plan quickly reversed after outcry from the press. "The extreme secrecy is a situation without precedent, at least in creating health care law," writes Julie Rovner, who has covered health care politics since 1986 and is arguably the dean of the DC health care press corps.

It's become obvious to me, particularly this week, that Republicans plan to move more quickly and less deliberatively than Democrats did in drafting the Affordable Care Act. They intend to do this despite repeatedly and angrily criticizing the Affordable Care Act for being moved too quickly and with too little deliberation.

My biggest concern isn't the hypocrisy; there is plenty of that in Washington. It's that the process will lead to devastating results for millions of Americans who won't know to speak up until the damage is done. So far, the few details that have leaked out paint a picture of a bill sure to cover millions fewer people and raise costs on those with pre-existing conditions. ...

Senate Republicans do not appear to be focused on carefully crafting policy that reflects a more conservative, free market attempt at achieving President Donald Trump's goals of covering every American at lower cost. They're focused on passing something, by whatever means necessary. That may come back to haunt them electorally, but not until millions suffer the consequences.

They reject Bipartisanism as a Concept.

They blatantly betray the good of the American people for the benefit of the Oligarchs.

Sorry an out of context partial quote does not support your false equivalence. The ACA was publicly debated for over a year. As is normal for them the right ignores the half of the sentence that doesn't fit their narrative and as a result present a completely innaccurate meaning. Just like they ignore the first half of the second Amendment, and change it from a guarantee of a free militia, They also ignore the 2nd half of Ms. Pelosi's sentence to present a false narrative of being asked to pass a bill they never read when they participated directy in its creation

All the Republican's care about is repealing Obamacare so they can give their rich donor's an 800 Billion tax break...

As per usual the GOP is engaging in the very behaviors they demonized Obama and the Dems for supposedly engaging in.

It's pretty much a given that anything negative the right says about the left will occur with the right being the perpetrators.

Except that the Democrats had open debate on it, it was a bipartisan effort, based off a REPUBLICAN think tank plan used in Massachusetts and it was available for the most part the whole time it was being negotiated. Republican's no longer liked it when Obama said let's do it nationwide. It was last minute changes for Republicans that were added that were for the most part the changes that "nobody had time to read." Why were they there?

Now that said if we all think that was so bad - why all the secrecy on this one? Not even Republican's get to see it. Only the tiny working committee. THAT is hypocrisy to the max. One big thing that was stripped from the ACA at the last minute to placate Republican's was a government option. That would in essence take away most of the complaints about the current ACA.

The ACA was designed to fail to get to single payer. The lies told to the American people during the "open debate" were appalling, unforgivable and gross.

No it wasn't.

But sometimes you have to tell yourself lies in order to cope with your cognitive dissonance.

Just don't expect the rest of us to swallow those lies.

You're a Republican, BLAKE. Eventually people like you will pass laws against honest conservatives.

That is, those conservatives who survive the GOP Death Care.
