Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Thursday, May 18, 2017

Less than a week before U.S. President Donald Trump arrives in Israel, the White House has been forced on to the defensive over reported comments by an American diplomat describing the Western Wall in Jerusalem's Old City -- one of Judaism's holiest sites -- as being in the West Bank. ... According to Israel's Channel 2 News, a member of the U.S. delegation preparing for Trump's visit made the comment about the wall when Israeli officials suggested a photographer shoot video of the President during a proposed visit to the site.

"Israel is convinced that this statement is contrary to the position of President [Donald] Trump, as expressed in his firm opposition to the most recent UN Security Council Resolution," the Israeli Prime Minister's Office said in a written statement Monday.

A White House spokesman later told CNN: "These comments were not authorized by the White House. They do not reflect the US position, and certainly not the President's position."

From AP: "The wall is in the Old City, a part of east Jerusalem, which the U.S. and most of the world consider to be occupied territory."

That's ok. He'll make it up to them by picking Joe Lieberman to run the FBI.

Ok is it me or is this one confusing story?

As confusing as it is if it is in East Jerusalem, then DUH it is in the West Bank. East Jerusalem / old city is part of the West Bank area. Now if they are offended by the terminology well maybe get a little thicker skin.

Jerusalem needs to simply be turned into an international zone as was intended and kick the Israeli and Palestinian enforcers out - oh wait the Palestinians already are.

It was a dumb thing to say but I can't pretend that I care.

Their leader came here and openly snubbed Obama and they flip out over a verbal gaffe by some flunky.

You'd almost think they were the host and we were the parasite instead of the other way around.

So sick of watching our politicians and media trip over each other to kiss Israel's ass. Obama is the only president I can remember who showed even a hint of self respect in dealing with Israel and even he was largely cowed by them due to the inexplicable fascination so many Americans have with housing Israel's -------- in their mouths.

"That's ok. He'll make it up to them by picking Joe Lieberman to run the FBI."

One of the most idiotic appointments ever made.
