Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

[President] Trump spoke to graduating cadets at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and took the opportunity to whine about what a victim he is. "Over the course of your life, you will find that things are not always fair. You will find that things happen to you that you do not deserve and that are not always warranted. But you have to put your head down and fight, fight, fight. Never, ever, ever give up. Things will work out just fine. "Look at the way I've been treated lately, especially by the media. No politician in history -- and I say this with great surety -- has been treated worse or more unfairly."

Presidents don't usually feel sorry for themselves in front of large audiences -- public whining and self-pity tends to undermine a sense of stature -- but Trump doesn't care. He feels put upon, gosh darn it, and he wants the graduating cadets at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy to know about his hurt feelings.

And so, in what was supposed to be a congratulatory speech for Academy graduates veered into the president complaining about his detractors, the press, and others who fail to appreciate his perceived awesomeness.

'I've accomplished a tremendous amount in a very short time as president," Trump added, pointing to, among other things, his willingness to roll back "the strangling environmental chains that were wrapped around our country." He went on to tell the Coast Guard cadets that he wants lots of tax cuts and his preparations for a border wall are "going along very, very well."

They're really not.

The president went on to say, "I won't talk about how much I saved you on the F-35 fighter jet. I won't even talk about it." That's great because (a) the Coast Guard doesn't use F-35 fighter jets; and (b) he's lying.

Or maybe he was just reading a speech written for him by a psychotic.

..."The people understand what I am doing and that is the most important thing," Trump said. ...

What's his approval rating again?

Has it been going up or down since Jan 20, 2017?

How does that compare to other Presidents?

Perhaps Pres Trump is finally correct with one of his statements, the people really do know what he is doing.

President Snowflake Loose Lips

#15 | Posted by klifferd at 2017-05-17 06:24 PM | Reply | Funny: 3

Another day and another Trump Lie.

He continues to says things that can be so easily disproved and then wonders why he is "mistreated"? His treatment is benign compared to what some others like Lincoln have gone through. In fact, in the end, Lincoln was shot. Don't think you can get more mistreated than that!

And does he not remember that President Barack Obama faced way more conspiracy theories for years printed in the same media, including the same lies that Trump himself pushed. Lies that suggested Obama was not born in the US when, in fact, and even The Donald had to admit (but not apologize) that he was.

Really Donny? Worse than the endless birfer movement that you were an integral part of? The endless witch hunts directed at Hillary?

Face it Donny, you ------ up. You sold out your country to Russia, then asked the investigator to back off, then fired him for not doing so. Then you admitted it in a television interview.

I am not surprised about selling out. You would sell your mother for a buck if you could. But I had hoped you would at least have the common sense to not obstruct justice. But I guess if you are going to burn for the Russian collusion, you might as well try to get Comey to back off.

If I were Mike Flynn, I would be worried right now. You never know when you are going to fall on a drink full of polonium.

There were a couple of politicians who may not have received a fair shake by Joseph McCarthy.

Besides that point, while it's probably worse to argue inauguration attendance in front of the CIA Memorial Wall, whining about unfair treatment in front of individuals who will be protecting and saving US lives demonstrates (or, rather, reminds) just how remarkably out of touch this guy is.

Somehow this would end up Obama's Fault.

What ever happened to taking responsibility for your own actions? Everything that has happened to Trump he has brought upon himself. He lies like a rug, is rude and hateful to others and purposefully provokes people and then wonders why people don't respect him or want to support him? He plays to his stupid base like a despotic autocratic and has not once reached out to the rest of America.

I have not one shred of sympathy for the man. He will continue to get grief as long as he continues to provoke the opposition instead of trying to work with them.

Good luck with trying to make America Hate Again when a good 60% of us don't support that ideology.

Bill Clinton endured 4 years of probes and an impeachment. Trump has a long way to go to reach that level of treatment. I remember once when the press were literally discussing the shape and size of Bill Clinton's penis.

Trump thinks that everything that is happening in the world is the first time it ever happened. And when it happens to him it is the worst ever? I wonder why that is? Maybe he is a frickin narcissist that has never picked up a history book in his life?

And he wonders why the press jumps on almost everything he says. Because almost everything he says sounds like school yard trash talk can be rebutted and invalidated by a child.

Like I tell my kids. If you want to be treated like an adult then act like one.

"Everybody complains about politicians. Everybody says they suck. Well, where do people think these politicians come from? They don't fall out of the sky. They don't pass through a membrane from another reality. They come from American parents and American families, American homes, American schools, American churches, American businesses and American universities, and they are elected by American citizens. This is the best we can do folks. This is what we have to offer. It's what our system produces: Garbage in, garbage out. If you have selfish, ignorant citizens, you're going to get selfish, ignorant leaders. Term limits ain't going to do any good; you're just going to end up with a brand new bunch of selfish, ignorant Americans. So, maybe, maybe, maybe, it's not the politicians who suck. Maybe something else sucks around here... like, the public. Yeah, the public sucks. There's a nice campaign slogan for somebody: 'The Public Sucks. ---- Hope.' "

Because right now you're believing the kid, and frankly I would've thought a retired teacher would have a better -------- alarm.

I was always treated fairly.

Trump's quote was: No politician in history -- and I say this with great surety -- has been treated worse or more unfairly.

Look, the reasonable position to take (if you're a Drumpfer) is: Yes, that's a stupid, indefensible thing to say. However, he has done good things X, Y and Z.

A subsequent, though less persuasive position is: he is a ridiculously poor communicator who's failing (as opposed to "passing") familiarity with the English language prohibits his ability to formulate cogent statements in appropriate forums.

A defense of: well, when you look at it this way...simply doesn't fly.
