Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Conservative pundit Erick Erickson is vouching for the reliability of a least one source who revealed that President Donald Trump disclosed "highly classified information" while meeting with Russian officials last week. "This is a real problem and I treat this story very seriously because I know just how credible, competent, and serious -- as well as seriously pro-Trump, at least one of the sources is. You can call these sources disloyal, traitors, or whatever you want, but please ask yourself a question -- if the president, through inexperience and ignorance, is jeopardizing our national security and will not take advice or corrective action, what other means are available to get the president to listen and recognize the error of his ways? I am told that what the president did is actually far worse than what is being reported.

Erickson wrote that people close to the president find him too insecure to take constructive criticism as anything other than a personal attack. So sources have gone to the media in the hopes that "the intense blowback" may force Trump to recognize his errors. And in this instance, where Trump's careless boasting has put at risk both U.S. national security and an ally's intelligence asset, there's simply too much at stake not to speak out.

Well we've identified at least one conservative observer who's unafraid to say that the emperor has no clothing. I'm sure he'll be drummed out of his job shortly....

Wow.... even one of Trump's most dedicated sycophants has a smidgen of a conscience, enough to question Trump's "inexperience and ignorance jeopardizing our national security".

We can only hope this isn't a one off.

Trump is a rank amateur trying to prove to the world leaders he belongs with the head honchos, over compensating (as always) for his 3,000,000 popular vote loss so he has to "prove" to the rest of the world by showing them just what he knows.

Russia knows this and goads him into spilling highly classified intel.

This is what happens when you elect a buffoon.

Biff Tannen 45th POTUS of the US.

Congrats ------- you built this. The world is laughing.

Usually, Pres Trump goes on a early morning tweet-storm when he is under pressure, typically blaming some news organization for reporting his self-inflicted errors.

I didn't see any tweets from him overnight (i.e., early morning today). Did he tweet? If he didn't, isn't it odd that he didn't?

Trump has leaked classified information. Petreaus leaked ten CIA contacts to his girlfriend. Cheney leaked Valerie Plame's CIA status. None of these powerful bureaucrats will do any time.

John Kiriakou leaked one CIA agent name. It took the CIA five years of digging to find anything to charge Kiriakou with. He was threatened with 45 years in prison and served 23 months not really because of that leak, but because he exposed the CIA torture program which George Bush authorized. What happened to Chelsea Manning is far worse...

Most prosecutions in this country further a political agenda, keeping poor unemployed minorities off the streets, keeping high crimes and misdemeanors of the most powerful people in the country out of the public's eye, keeping up the pretense that we stand for freedom of the press and democracy...

"I am told that what the President did is actually far worse than what is being reported," Erickson said. "The President does not seem to realize or appreciate that his bragging can undermine relationships with our allies and with human intelligence sources. He also does not seem to appreciate that his loose lips can get valuable assets in the field killed."

Look the man surrounded himself with sycophants his entire life. He is always right and never lets anyone correct him or criticize him even when he is blatantly wrong. He knows what's best and can't admit when he's wrong - maybe it's a need to not appear weak? He has so many just loony ideas it isn't funny (take his position on exercise for just one) and in that regard makes me think of other more "average" elderly people. He has the apparent self-esteem of a beaten dog the way he has to brag, bully, handshake, talk, etc and make himself appear what is in his mind is an alpha dog. I have a feeling that he and J. Edgar have something in common behind closed doors and no doubt that the stories on the Russian dossier are true.

Yes but don't forget to give yourself some credit, you marched out a candidate that was so stupid and deplorable that she lost to him!

You deserve most of the credit, FISHPAW. Like many others you are too stupid to vote intelligently. And you're never going to figure out that you are easy meat for even the most inept con men.
