Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Monday, May 15, 2017

Freddy Pompeii, guitarist for the seminal Canadian punk band, the Viletones, succumbed last night to lung cancer. I was in his last band, Fight, F---, or Dance, and even past 70, he rocked silly. I was up in Toronto last Summer pushing our single and was absolutely amazed at how every record shop clerk, every worker at the radio station and even random punks on the street, all knew and loved Freddy. Philly Voice interviewed him two months ago.

Sorry for the loss of your bandmate. That's an epic name.

I would suggest looking to Toronto. That's where he was most popular.

Thanks for the front page RC. Freddy was the guy who materially had nothing, he died with no home and a couple ------ guitars, but in friendship and goodwill, he was seriously the richest man I will ever meet.

To paraphrasing an aging punk rocker.

"Punk wasn't supposed to grow old but we have."
