Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Wednesday, April 19, 2017

Kevin Williamson, National Review: During the campaign, Donald Trump published a "Contract with the American Voter," and he may even have read it. He described the document as "my pledge to you." If anybody had been listening, they might have learned from his former business partners what a Trump contract is worth and from his ex-wives what value he puts on a solemn pledge. I have some bad news, Sunshine: Ya got took.

No fighting China on currency, no wall, no NATO reform. Add a few more items to the list: Janet Yellen was definitely out before she wasn't; our relationship with Russia was "great" during the campaign but today is a "horrible relationship" that is "at an all-time low" (he may not know about the Cuban missile crisis); the president could not make war on Syria without congressional approval ("big mistake if he does not!") until he could. The Affordable Care Act remains the law of the land. Steve Bannon of Goldman Sachs, Gary Cohn of Goldman Sachs, Steven Mnuchin of Goldman Sachs, and Dina Powell of Goldman Sachs are firmly ensconced in their various roles throughout the Trump administration.

This couldn't be true. I know because Hrat and the Rwingers, a promising new garbage, er, garage band, promised us it would never happen. Plus, we get a "conservative" SC for the next few decades and which ever wars he starts.

Thanks, you guys!

Which is best:

1) To improve your home
2) To improve your city
3) To improve your state
4) To improve your country
5) To improve your planet

And, important subsequent question, what does our society look like if we all answer as you do?

Realize Noles is making money for every post he makes. He isn't stupid enough to believe the nonsense he posts but if it pays the bills the more power to him. Mercer dollars for everyone!
We should change DR into a business and sell our blogging abilities to the highest bidders, we could all quit our jobs and just post Koch and Mercer propaganda 24/7. It would be a sacrifice of our character but some, like Noles, can handle it and enjoy all the free time.

I doubt corky's policies will affect society, as a whole, however having a corrupt president will.

Now, if only any of this meant that Trump was actually reasonable and qualified to be president.

But NOPE. He isn't. He's still a bully who whines about being a victim, still a dork with an entitlement complex, still a thin-skinned, narcissistic amateur with no ideology beyond self-promotion.

"Now we can all sit back and do a collective sigh of relief that hillary clinton was not elected President. "

You'll be denying you said that by the end of Trumps first four years. Even the most ardent Trump supporters will recognize their error sooner rather than later. He is an unmitigated disaster and it is going to get worse, much worse.

If ignorance really was bliss there would be a lot more blissful people in the world.

Illegal border crossings have been down for years.
The new report his morning says businesses have stopped hiring.
And your 401K was up there at the end of the Obama presidency.

You should send a thank you letter to Obama.

HAHAHA I'm shocked this site is even still around. Typed in drudge on a new machine I logged into and it took me here. Obama was an unmitigated disaster for this country. Trump is LIGHT YEARS BETTER. He's deporting illegals, enforcing the laws of entry into the country, unfortunately he's getting ---- blocked by the stupid ------- court system that no one has respect for at this point. My suggestion is ignore the courts and enforce the travel ban, then fire/replace anyone unwilling to enforce the ban. Gorsuch is confirmed despite an unprecedented Democrat blockade for a guy they confirmed unanimously like 10 years ago. He's making deals with companies to keep jobs here instead of going overseas, he's about to take up the H1B visa problem. Obamacare would be gone if not for RINOs and Ryan in the house who passed a repeal bill about 100 times, then suddenly shifted to "let's replace it" mode and the Liberty Caucus wouldn't bite (thankfully). There is no excuse to not send Trump the same bill Obama vetoed just last year. On top of that though he has scrapped the most tyrannical portion of Obamacare getting rid of the illegal and unconstitutional individual mandate. If you filed taxes this year you noticed that the requirement to report "if you had insurance all year last year" was gone. Thank God. Trump is doing great things, expect more great things, it's going to be a long 4/8 years for you guys. The Sun has just risen and Trump is shining bright, it's going to get hot for you snowflakes so you better bunker down.

Courts, especially Federal courts, are stong majority Republican appointees.

That Hawaiian judge was an Obama appointee, and crazy enough, Obama visited him like 2 days before his decision. Not only that but he has no jurisdiction to rule on the matter at all. Who is he ruling on behalf of? People who aren't even in the country, which are non-citizens, who have no constitutional rights and have no legal standing to bring a case to court in the first place, that's who. The ruling should be ignored simply based on that alone.

It appears BullS has reading comprehension difficulties...

Trump popularity hits its record low a month ago.

Trump moves to center, bombs Syria.

Trump popularity climbs back to 50%, and is trending back to his record high of 60%.

It's all quite bizarre.

key takeaway from the article:
This is a typical Trump pattern: Do nothing, declare the problem solved, claim victory. That isn't deft diplomacy -- it is a failure of nerve.
