Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Wednesday, April 19, 2017

Democrat Jon Ossoff is headed for a June runoff against Republican Karen Handel after falling short of an upset victory Tuesday in the nationally watched special election to represent a suburban Atlanta district in Congress. The 30-year-old investigative filmmaker aimed for an outright win in the 6th District race, but a furious Republican counterattack joined by President Donald Trump appeared to keep him under 50 percent. He is set to face Handel, a former Georgia secretary of state who will try to unify Republicans after vicious weeks of internal GOP feuding.

"Dems hate the Russians until a candidate with Russian Jewish heritage runs for Congress."

More like Americans hate Putin, we're fine with Russians. My daughter in law is a Russian speaking Ukrainian that hates Putin. Ukrainians, both Ukrainians speaking and Russian speaking all hate Putin equally. The myth that Putin invaded to proted "Russians" in Ukraine is --------. He invaded to take control of Crimea where he has his fleet and the so called "Seperatists" are just there to create a pathway from Crimea to Russia. The myth that they are there to "protect" Russians and/or Russian speakers is -------- and any Ukrainian will agree, both Ukrainian speakers and Russian speakers. Trust me on this, Ukrainians, none of them, want to be under the authority of Putin and a potential future similar to what the Russian people have to look forward to. That is exactly the reason for Maidan. Why they want to join the west, EU, NATO, everything about being Europe, not Russia.

#2 yes the Jews sure have prospered in Russia. You should be more worried about his Australian mum.

Fulton extending voting hours at two polling places

Eligible voters whose designated polling locations are Centennial High School or the Johns Creek Environmental Campus will have a few extra minutes to cast their ballots Tuesday due to the polling locations not opening on time.

Eligible voters can only vote on provisional paper ballots during the extended hours. All other polling locations will close at 7:00 p.m....

Looks like a runoff, Ossoff needed to win Cobb County decisively to avoid a runoff, he only got 43% there so he probably won't win outright.

That's bad news for the Dems, since in a run-off they probably lose.

So yes. Georgia voters will continue to vote against their own personal interests because...why.... I don't even know any more. Stupidity? No, it has to be something else. A real answer is required, we really do need to understand why those people would vote against healthcare for their selves and their families. Personally, I believe it is an emotional thing that somehow justifies their worldview but has little to do with reality. If that isn't so then please present a realistic case about how it benefits an average American to repeal Obamacare. Problem for the Fascist Party, Americans are sort of realizing that Obamacare is a good thing for themselves and their families. REalizing late in the game but realizing.

If we lose, I acknowledge we may likely lose, who suffers? Anyone with a brain can imagine the families, the individuals both healthy and with compromised health issues will all suffer in the richest nation on the planet. Be proud conservatives. Tell your grandchildren how proud you are of your actions to deprive poor people of food, healthcare and justice. How do you live with yourselves?

"84% reporting (177 of 210 precincts)
Live Analysis by Nate Cohn »

Cobb is done. Ossoff at 50.3% with 55k in Fulton County left. Our guess he gets 45%; needs 49. Seems small, but very hard."

No comtade. YOU just learned that. And you think you can make that the issue. Even though it has nothing to do with the overwhelming anger voters have with the direction Trumpsters are taking us.

That's been an ongoing thing for this election. He lives just outside of the district, grew up in the district, has family in the district, etc, etc.

True. I guess I was the one who found out late.

Does make you wonder, though. The Dems---who pretend to be a national party---couldn't find anyone to run in Cobb and Fulton County?

#21 | Posted by WhiteDevil at 2017-04-19 09:03 AM | Reply

Personally, I'm glad to hear that his campaign blew through tons of cash and ultimately ended up precisely where they would have been if they had spent 1/10th as much. I applaud the waste of money in campaigns like this. I can only hope that eventually we can get to a point where people aren't easily swayed by campaign funds so less money will be thrown into them. I am concerned that the continual emotional build-up and let-down of things like this and the Kansas special election will lead to voter fatigue when their attention is most needed.

#22 And the fact that he ran on nothing except it would be a vote against Trump. Money well spent dummies but Dems have a history of throwing money down the toilet. He will get crushed in the run off and the Dems know it, they will abandon him like an unwanted step child.

This election is about Georgia values vs outsider Hollywood money. Not only that but apparently mums the word on the outsider's backbround and culture. This is reminiscent how Dem outsider carpetbaggers threw out Cynthia McKinney. en.m.wikipedia.org

Georgia values? The Democrat candidate is from the district he's running from, grew up in it, worked in it, family lives in it..

Psh... At least Florida congressional candidates have the wherewithal to lease a condo within the district borders to have a qualifying mailing residential address.

Because 11 Republicans ran against him, splintering the vote. Now that it is 1 on 1, Handel should be the clear front-runner.

Handel is pretty well disliked by both R & D's around here. She's been crushed in several election attempts for various offices. Not to mention the fact that she's a true carpet bagger, born in MD and raised in DC.

I voted for Cynthia in 2008.

I hated Obama and McCain, and like lots of you guys, wanted to vote for a black.
