Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Friday, March 17, 2017

Last year, after ending one of his many spirited on-air arguments with liberal contributor Juan Williams, [Sean] Hannity pulled out a gun and pointed it directly at Williams, according to three sources with knowledge of the incident. He even turned on the laser sight, causing a red dot to bob around on Williams' body. (Hannity was just showing off, the sources said, but the unforeseen off-camera antic clearly disturbed Williams and others on set.) ... "Sean Hannity has been trained in firearm safety since he was 11 years old and has a license to carry a gun in five states, including New York," Fox News said in a statement to CNNMoney. "The situation was thoroughly investigated and it was found that no one was put in any danger."

Based on this article Hannity does a lot of name calling, sounds like a liberal.

Still waiting for him to be waterboarded for charity as he promised.

They will stop water boarding, it will go back to more ancient times like pulling finger or toe nails out. Water boarding is just so tragic that we can't have such a thing!

...Sean Hannity has been trained in firearm safety since he was 11 years old...

I've been told by people who have gone through such safety courses that one of the first, and most basic, things drilled into your brain is that you do not point a gun at anything unless you intend to shoot it. In other words, you never point a gun at someone in jest.

It appears to me as if Mr Hannity has failed that basic aspect of gun safety.

Juan Williams sold out long ago so it is no surprise that he covers for Hannity on this incident. I would not be so forgiving even for a million dollar contract at Fox News which is, I am quite sure, influenced William's willingness to discuss this incident honestly.

#8 | Posted by danni at 2017-03-17 10:53 AM | Reply

Using the excuse of being trained as a pass on this is ridiculous...I don't care if you're an instructor...if you point a gun at me and don't shoot, be prepared for the hurtinest beat down of your life when the gun is put down...rule 1. Always treat every firearm as if it is loaded...rule 2. Never point a firearm at anything/anyone you don't intend to shoot.

#9,
Exactly! We have been lectured by gunluvers here for years on "responsible gun owner's" highly disciplined behavior, and how vital it is.

Until the gunfool is a righty talking head, of course, then, gunplay is just fine and dandy to the fire arm freaks.

It doesn't matter what Juan Williams said.

This is the kind of behavior make it easier for gun reg folks to bash on gun owners. Especially when it's justified by claiming proper training of a person who's breaking the cardinal rules of said training.

"Sean Hannity has been trained in firearm safety since he was 11 years old "
"While discussing the issue of firearms, I showed my good friend Juan Williams my unloaded firearm in a professional and safe manner for educational purposes only,"
"Hannity pulled out a gun and pointed it directly at Williams...He even turned on the laser sight, causing a red dot to bob around on Williams' body."

Trained by who? The very first rule I ever learned before being allowed to touch a gun and the first rule stated at every gun training I've attended has been to treat every gun as if it is loaded.

#17 | Posted by johnny_hotsauce at 2017-03-17 11:22 AM | Reply | Newsworthy 5

I don't think any advocate of responsible gun ownership approves of Hannity's joking around with a firearm in that manner.

"The situation was thoroughly investigated and it was found that no one was put in any danger."

Pretty significantly contradicted by the fact that the red dot was on Willians at all.

I was always taught to never point a gun at someone unless I was seriously considering shooting them.

Then what's he doing pointing a pistol, with the laser sight switched on, at someone unless it was an emergency?
What next from this moron?
"I didn't know it was loaded"?
Thank God for the well-regulated militia.

Like you - you do not point a gun at anyone, loaded or unloaded (the gun, although applicable to Homo sapiens as well) unless you intend and are prepared to use it.

That Hannity is, putting it kindly, a buffoon indicates Juan Williams is lucky the damn thing didn't "just go off."

Given that this would be a felony, and the alleged victim's version of events is one of somebody safely showing them a firearm, it certainly matters what the alleged victim says.

@#25 ... the alleged victim's version of events is one of somebody safely showing them a firearm ...

Did Mr Williams go through a firearms safety program? If not, his commentary about "someone safely showing" may not mean all that much, as he may not know the basic, basic rules:

rule 1. Always treat every firearm as if it is loaded...rule 2. Never point a firearm at anything/anyone you don't intend to shoot.

#26 | Posted by LampLighter at 2017-03-17 01:18 PM | Reply

If pointing a gun at someone with the laser sight on doesn't put anyone in danger then that kind of kills the justification for shooting criminals who merely reach for a gun. After all they didn't even get as far as pointing it at the officers.

"While discussing the issue of firearms, I showed my good friend Juan Williams my unloaded firearm in a professional and safe manner for educational purposes only," Hannity's statement read. "Every precautionary procedure that I have been trained in since the age of 11 was followed.

Which would include not pointing it directly at someone. I have a concealed carry as well. One of the first things they tell you is to not point it at something you don't intend to shoot. With the way CNN reports news, I think doubting this article isn't a stretch...

#33 | Posted by boaz at 2017-03-17 02:23 PM | Reply

Two things: First; Hanutty obviously is too stupid to have learned ANYTHING from his gun safety classes. He violated at least two and probably three (be aware of your backstop and beyond, because there were probably people in the room or adjacent rooms in the line of sight) of the four rules of gun safety. If the laser was trigger activated, then he broke all four rules! We read about people being hurt or killed by accidental discharges in the news almost every day. There are plenty of funny videos on YouTube of gun humpers shooting themselves by accident. Juan Williams is lucky to be alive. You never unholster in public unless you intend to use your gun. If you are going to show your gun to a friend, you do it in private, you safely unload it and then pass it to your friend. YOU NEVER POINT A GUN AT ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO DESTROY!

Second; In my state, I don't have time to research NY law but it's likely similar, pointing a gun at somebody, even in "jest," is considered felony assault. With this many witnesses, Hanutty should have a felony conviction on his record and have no more access to firearms. All of his concealed pistol licenses should be rescinded. It's too bad Mr. Williams lacks the stones to have the charges filed. I have lots of friends who carry and enjoy guns, and are very safe with them. I would NEVER stand for ANYBODY pointing a gun at me.

The denials from Sean Hannity and Juan Williams are classic non-denials. They don't deny that he pointed the gun at Williams, which is what three sources told CNN.

Given that, I think it's pretty likely Hannity did it.

#25 | POSTED BY SITZKRIEG

Except multiple witnesses confirmed that the laser dot was bobbing around on Juan's body. Which means the weapon was pointed directly at him.

Juan writing it off to help his buddy means either

a. he's ignorant of gun safety rules and thought a gun pointed at him, loaded or unloaded, is fine

or

b. he's as cavalier with guns as Hannity is

Doesn't change the fact that this was an incredibly stupid, irresponsible thing to do.

#39 | Posted by jpw at 2017-03-17 10:07 PM | Reply

Hannity denies it, Williams denies it. It was a year ago. Investigated and written off. But still, someone has he/she/it's panties in a bunch.

Oh yes, we shall because we are a bunch of sore losers.

The entire country is losing by Trump's win.

Also, considering the sore winner nature of the entire administration, the GOP and Trump's supporters thus far, there's really no room for a Trump supporter to bitch about sore anything.

There is no possible way the incident could have been intelligently investigated and reach such a conclusion. Everything hinges on whether the gun was loaded or not, impossible to prove after the fact. But this is irrelevant from a gun safety perspective since ALL guns must be treated initially as if they are loaded. Most accidental deaths result from failing to do so.
