Firing McCabe is Practice for Firing Mueller

David Frum: What will the president's party in Congress permit? What will the president's media supporters repeat? What will the president's supporters in the country believe? The story they have been told about [Andrew] McCabe previews the story they will soon hear about [Robert] Mueller. As many have noted, Trump's March 17 tweet about Mueller -- his first to attack Mueller by name -- heaps lie upon lie. ... But the test for Trump is not credibility or even plausibility. It is the reliability of his party, his media, and his voters. The McCabe practice test yielded answers that have to be gratifying for the president as he ponders his next move to save himself, his family, and his administration from the workings of justice.

Comments

As someone else said, Trump knows what Mueller will find.

Donald Trump is a criminal and through his criminality a traitor. A Constitutional crisis was inevitable once he got elected.

Those people who think they want to stand by him during this need to examine themselves and their motivations. Their souls, if they still have them.

The above the law elite back in DC need to have ultra protection and should be allowed to get away with anything. "with liberty and JUSTICE for ALL".

Is Trump above the law snippy?

#3 | Posted by bored at 2018-03-19 12:22 PM

This is yet another example of Republican's penchant for perception over reality... including the law.

With all the investigations is seems that he isn't but the swamp is full of law breakers.

#5 | Posted by Sniper at 2018-03-19 01:36 PM

Is hiltabeast above the law? Seema she destroyed a bunch of evidence and she also leaked a bunch of classified material. As I recall there have been several people that have gone to jail for the same thing.

Oh, I thought this was a thread about President Trump's attacks on law enforcement.

OK, well, I do agree former Secretary of State Clinton should be investigated. Maybe multiple Congressional hearing for hours and hour over years? If only this administration had control of all three branches of government, THEN we'd get some action! ROFLMAO!!!

Bottom line: If, with all these resources at their disposal and after all this time and effort and she is as guilty as you claim she is, you still can't even get an indictment (much less a conviction): maybe it's time to realize she is just too powerful and clever for this administration!

"The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, but in ourselves."

You thought wrong lollypop. It is a thread about Trump's attack on dirty law enforcement. Big difference. I guess you don't realize that it was the FBI that made the recommendation that Leaky McCabe be fired.

Sniper - when was it you fell and hit your head?
Where is the evidence of dirty law enforcement? From what I have read of the "evidence" it sounds pretty "trumped" up.

Think about this.
- The Tea party and rest of the GOP went after Hillary for 6 years. They found Zero to charge her with.
- You cry about Comey not suggesting she be charged over the server and in essence saying nothing was intentionally done wrong. She didn't go to trial and was not even charged.
- Now they control all 3 branches yet no charges, no more investigations, etc.

That means Trumpsky and the GOP either were creating much ado about nothing for political reasons or they are all complicit. Which is it?

This appears to be a go-to excuse for more than a few,

It doesn't matter who Hillary was, Gomer. You've got a criminal in the White House who is likely still doing criminal things. You've got a president who not only acts guilty but acts like he's a freaking traitor.

Pitch in with his removal or get out of the way.

Back to the headline. If an inside FBI non partisan investigation recommends Mueller's firing for lying to the FBI and illegally leaking info like they did with Mccabe then sure I guess you could say Trump is practicing.

I'll bet you they didn't recommend firing him just hours before his 50th birthday. That part was vindictive.

#15 Please, now you're digging deep, and he didn't lose his pension, check it out, he gets it when he turns 57 instead of 50 which should be the last of his worries. What he did was a felany which was outed by his own peers. If you want to shed a tear for him go ahead and send him a check as well. Anyone else did this they would be heading to prison so spare us your unbased outrage.

You are an idiot or do you have an advanced copy of the IG report on mccabe that exonerates him? The FBI ask the AG to fire him. Pull your head out of your hip pocket.

What does that matter? He still will get the money he put into his retirement fund, he just won't get the government match. Criminals should not get rewarded.

and his crime was he beat hiltabeast in a fair election. What should be the punishment for that?

#21 | Posted by Sniper at 2018-03-21 02:32 PM

"Dumb Donald", told us it wasn't a fair election. How many tweets did he send out telling us that exact thing?

They fired him before the Inspector General's report was even completed. Due process much?

#23 | Posted by WhoDaMan at 2018-03-22 12:24 AM

Trump is testing the waters. People around him are smart enough to know how Nixon went down under Watergate. They are trying to see if the political environment is similar to that; if not, they will fire Mueller.

Right now, it seems the Republicans in Congress perceive Trump as being able to weather the storm through the mid-term elections in November. That's the crucial difference here: Nixon did not have support of his Congress; Trump (seemingly) does.

Funny, as I really doubt that President Trump needs any practice when it comes to firing people ;)
