Hope Hicks Resigns

Hope Hicks, The White House Communications Director, resigned one day after she refused to answer many questions from the House Intelligence Committee and admitted to telling "white lies" on behalf on the White House. Hicks said that she had been considering exiting for months but the timing comes when some observers have claimed Hicks is close to or already has cut a deal with Robert Mueller and less than a month after her romantic interest, Rob Porter, left the White House after allegations of abuse from his ex-wives came to light.

... admitted to telling "white lies" on behalf on the White House ...

... after extended consultation with her lawyers, she insisted that she had not lied about matters material to the investigations into Russia's interference in the 2016 presidential election and possible links to Trump associates, according to three people familiar with her testimony. ...

The basic issue I have with Ms Hicks saying that she lied about nothing material regarding the investigations is that such a judgment is not hers to make, it is Mr Mueller's judgment to make.

In my view, that Ms Hicks came out and said that nothing she lied about was material to the investigation may mean exactly the opposite. It is up to Mr Mueller to decide just how much the lies of Ms Hicks are relevant to his investigation.
