Talk among yourselves...
Captain Beyond - Live in Montreux 1972
Blue Cheer - Summertime Blues 1968
I liked some of the early influence bands on what became heavy metal.
- we had the Iron Butterfly!
And Deep Purple and Steppenwolf.
Funny story... late one night I was stopped at a traffic light in DFW driving my '67 Firebird with it's newly installed 8 track tape player blaring out "GD the Pusher Man!", no one around, or so I thought. I looked out my open window and a car full of nuns had pulled up. They had shocked looks on their faces and were pointing at me. I smiled and waved and peeled out.
Some time later, the tape deck was stolen out of the car. I was so pissed I called the cops... which was fruitless; stealing those decks and tapes was really popular back then. But the cops were asking me the titles of the tapes and when I named the Iron Butterfly tape, one of them said, "In a God Damn...what?" when I said...
If you really want to get dirty, check out Five Finger Death Punch, Rammstein and Cradle of Filth...I won't post links to those since they are definitely NSFW.
Now I understand your name, I always wondered if it was about the band.
If you like TFD then you must be a Skinny Puppy fan.
"Thanks, that's why I posted this; to get some tunes I didn't know."
Check out the bands "In this Moment" and "Highly Suspect." 30 years ago they would have probably considered more goth or alternative, but those lines have been blurred. A lot. When I was a teenager, a metal head wouldn't have listened to Sisters of Mercy or Flesh for Lulu, even though the sounds weren't that different.

Growing up in Portland, and later living in SD, Skinny Puppy was a club staple.
When I was in law school one of my good friends was the tour manager (glorified accountant who got leftovers) for New Order and Echo and the Bunnymen. One time when they were in the City playihng at the Filmore, Skinny Puppy was playing at a local club and Bernard Summer and Nivek Orge (aka kevin) were friends from England, and he left tix for NO and its entourage. We went and checked them out...it was loud, crowded and full of speed freaks. Pretty awesome and I have been a fan ever since.
Love Skinny Puppy.
I not only love TFD, I am TFD. That's me playing guitar on that album and others (not all).
