The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday refused to block a lower court ruling requiring Republican-drawn congressional districts in Pennsylvania to be reworked immediately, boosting Democratic hopes of winning control this year of the U.S. House of Representatives. Justice Samuel Alito denied an emergency application filed by Republicans to stop the immediate reworking of the electoral district boundaries, preserving a ruling by the state's top court that they had unlawfully sought partisan advantage over the Democrats in drawing the maps.
Eventually it will get to the point that the GOP's actions with regards to boundaries is going to kick them in the butt. The lines will soon start to be redrawn over themselves and cause a lot of anomalies in their metrics that they won't be able to explain. This will lead to decisions being made from incorrect data and will hurt the GOP more than help them. Dems really shouldn't be trying so hard to fight against this GOP tactic. It will cave in on itself within the next 10 years (if they keep at the rate the lines have been redrawn at for the last 10 years).
Congressional Districts are a sham. But both sides game the system. Its about legacies of power manipulating districts according to the upcoming agenda. Not representation. Look at a few districts in Cal, Mass, Chi, and NY.
#1 So the dems should ignore when the GOP "unlawfully sought partisan advantage over the Democrats in drawing the maps"?
#2 So if there is some crime we should ignore all crime?
Districts should be drawn to enable fair representation of voters wishes. That isn't happening now. An independent commission should be responsible for district lines developed based on fair rules.
