Trump: Not Applauding Me Is Treason

President Donald Trump said Democrats who did not clap during his first State of the Union address were "treasonous." Speaking at a Sheffer factory in Cincinnati Monday, Trump criticized Democratic lawmakers who did not stand and applaud during his State of the Union address last Tuesday, saying they gave off "bad energy" and calling them "un-American." "Somebody said treasonous," he said. "I mean, yeah, I guess, why not. Can we call that treason? Why not?"

Trump's poor english grammar, shallow vocabulary, and incoherent thought pattern quoted after the jump.

Comments

One day Pence will come out and say, straight-faced (the only face he has) that Trump has metamorphosed into a god, and that we need to be extra nice to him at this sensitive phase of his life.

This is where the President's Impartial Defenders point out that he never actually called it treason.

I think Dictator Trump is taking note of Kim Jong-un's audience. If the Korean dictator doesn't see everyone clapping the penalty is severe ~ prison or even death.

Dictator Trump is jealous of Dictator Kim Jong-un's power.

No surprise there.

Suggest you stop worshipping at the feet of false gods.

You support Donald Trump, despite all evidence believing that he's a good man with a program beyond personal interest.

I loathe Donald Trump because he is a criminal and a traitor.

This is the essence of politics. You idolaters will have to be beaten from the temple with a whip of chords.

November can't come soon enough.

As an outsider with a keen interest in all things American, I wish I could say that I have seen any evidence of Trump being interested in anything but his own perceived success. Trump has displayed a remarkable lack of understanding for the actual workings of the American political system and even more regrettably, absolutely no sign that he is interested in learning.

Trump does not want a functioning 2 party system - he wants a 1 man system, with 2 parties playing a support role to make him look good to his base.

#29 | Posted by Foreigner at 2018-02-06 09:53 AM

I hate it when the word "treason" gets thrown around so flippantly. I also recognize that he wasn't being serious - he was joking for his audience. Doesn't make it right though.

Here's a partial list of Democrats and their supporters using the same language, but often much more seriously, during the Obama years.

Note: This is NOT a deflection. That these people did it doesn't make it right for Trump to do it, even in a joking manner. I'm posting this link (scroll down a bit) to provide some perspective for those who are freaking out over his remarks:

March 2009: On Tuesday, liberal talk radio host Stephanie Miller called Rush Limbaugh's now well-publicized statement about wanting Barack Obama to fail "treasonous,"

June 2009, Paul Krugman on Republicans opposing a climate-change bill: [A]s I watched the deniers make their arguments, I couldn't help thinking that I was watching a form of treason -- treason against the planet ... is it fair to call climate denial a form of treason?

August 2011: Vice President Joe Biden joined House Democrats in lashing tea party Republicans Monday, accusing them of having "acted like terrorists" in the fight over raising the nation's debt limit, according to several sources in the room.

October 2013: President Barack Obama's former senior White House adviser and campaign manager David Plouffe accused House Republicans of "committing economic treason" during the partial government shutdown on Thursday.

For a bunch of people who go on and on every day about how stupid someone is and then make a huge commotion whenever they say something stupid, Liberals really are almost impossible to understand in the 21st century. It's like they bitch to bitch and don't care if there is any substance. At least Reps are making progress towards their goals which may or may not be what is best for the country (mostly "may not"). Dems aren't accomplishing anything but whatever their feeling is that day with no long-term strategy. This is what I envision the typical Liberal political mind to be like..."Hmmm, healthcare would be great for everyone, let's do that. Oh look, a butterfly! Ok, so I don't like bullies so let's go after them. Hey, I found lint in my pocket! We really need to do something about Trump's policies that are hurting this country. Wow, I can twist my thumb in a way that looks funny!.........."

Get a strategy and you will stop losing people like me with these random political leanings that come up for two reasons...you feel like it that day or the Reps go one way so you have to go the other.

#33 | Posted by humtake at 2018-02-06 12:02 PM

This is what the rest of the planet is observing from the outside looking in: 1-You have an ex KGB agent who is now the oppressive leader of the former USSR that holds financial as well as possible social misdeeds over the head of the current president of the USA. 2-Through digital and electronic means has swayed the thoughts and opinions of the general public into believing the president is acting in the peoples best interests. 3-The President refuses to obey the word of the law and instill the sanctions against the ex KGB operative that were democratically voted to take place. 4- The President continually comes up with false narratives to distract and obstruct investigation into his dealings with the former KGB agent and his operatives and continues to undermine the media as well as planting the seeds of doubt in the American justice system. 5-Divisive and partisan tactics divide the people of the USA along religious, racial, social, and wage class all brought on by things spouted from the Presidents ongoing "rallying" in a way only dictators have ever done...not statesmen, and the people fall for it even though the front door to your country has now opened up for the Russians to march right in, (something that was unimaginable and was at the very center of American values throughout the 50s,60s,70s and 80s)digitally and soon I imagine, physically. John LeCarre couldn't write an espionage novel like this because it would be too unbelievable..but yet here you are.

"At least Reps are making progress towards their goals which may or may not be what is best for the country (mostly "may not"). Dems aren't accomplishing anything but whatever their feeling is that day with no long-term strategy."

Are you seriously that ignorant? The Republicans won the elections. Of course they are going to make some progress. Dems made plenty of progress wile Obama was President. And the Dems handed Trump a stable economy that was already growing and unemployment was already low. Much to the chagrin of the Deplorables.

But no worries. November is rapidly approaching.

And hey looky. Feb 8th is less that 2 days away.

How is that "level playing field" coming along. We got that whole DACA thing solved? Is the Budget ready? Gonna kick the can gain? Yeah that is really making some progress!

Or should we turn out the lights and shutdown the government and just go home until Republicans can get a real budget together?

The treason statute only applies in time of war. The last time Congress declared war (and only they can do so), was in 1941. "Police Actions" and "AUMFs" don't count.

Sen. Tammy Duckworth, who has emerged in recent weeks as one of President Trump's most vocal critics, fired back after Trump called Democrats "treasonous" for not applauding him during his State of the Union address.

"We don't live in a dictatorship or monarchy. I swore an oath -- in the military and in the Senate -- to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, not to mindlessly cater to the whims of Cadet Bone Spurs and clap when he demands I clap," Duckworth (D-Ill.) wrote in a tweet.

Not necessarily. The first order of business for a newly minted dictator is to write his own constitution, guaranteeing himself and his dynasty a job for life.

Surely you've noticed the sham "constitutional" elections that take place when a dictator is in charge.

There are only two ways to get them out ~ a coffin or a coup.

The only reason I had a television was for Washington Journal before I went to work, but then I had to stop watching C-SPAN entirely for a while due to bouts of wasteful "ranting" instead of enjoying coffee. When the head of FDA announced that there was no "mad cow" in any other tissues than muscle, I went for her throat through that screen. Shortly after her proclamation 22 Asian nations stopped all United States beef imports.

Joe Wilson should never have been allowed to keep his seat after such flagrant disrespect while the totality of America were watching, but GOP are filthy scum so it's perfectly acceptable if they fling their diapers onstage too.
