The Memo Doesn't Vindicate Trump

Renato Marriotti, New York Times: For weeks, allies of President Trump ratcheted up pressure to "release the memo." ... The president himself said, after the memo's release on Friday, that it "vindicates" him in the probe. But it does no such thing. The memo from House Republicans, led by Representative Devin Nunes, fell well short of the hype. ... In fact, Mr. Trump's approval of the release of the memo and his comments that releasing it could make it easier for him to fire Mr. Rosenstein could help Robert Mueller, the special counsel, prove that Mr. Trump fired James B. Comey, then the F.B.I. director, with a "corrupt" intent -- in other words, the intent to wrongfully impede the administration of justice -- as the law requires.

More

The warrant was issued and then renewed three separate times. Each time, as is standard in seeking a FISA warrant, a judge reviewed extensive information before issuing it. The fact that the warrant was renewed three times indicates that the F.B.I. obtained useful intelligence each time -- a judge wouldn't have approved a renewal if the prior warrant came up empty. That suggests that once the warrants were issued, they revealed important evidence.

In addition, the timeline set forth in the memo indicates that the FISA warrants were submitted by both the Obama and Trump administrations.

And... 28 percent of America will buh-lieve him.

Talk about devolution.... he makes Nixon look like a patriot.

The arrogance of his Tweet should cause everyone to realize that this man is dangerous to have as our President and we should all do everything we can to prevent him from continuing in that office.

.... he makes Nixon look like a patriot.

This whole thing really reminds me of my memories of Watergate. All over the news, all the time. Very hard to keep track of what's going on with so many different (and seemingly unrelated) concepts going on at the same time. The break-in, cover-ups, tapes, meetings, firings, wave upon wave of bull----.

It really seems familiar.

The original headline was... Trump: GOP Memo "Vindicates "Trump" in Probe".

Obviously that word doesn't mean what he thinks it means. Good thing it wasn't on that cognition test!

CORKY

"Good thing it wasn't on that cognition test!"

I checked. It wasn't.

However, the reading comprehension (for 3 pts.) was: " Run, Spot, run. See Spot run."

Trump aced it.

Carter Page must have some juicy stuff to tell Mueller for Trump to go to all this trouble to have that FISA warrant nullified.

Yeah, I know. Everybody thinks it's about Rod Rosenstein. But maybe not. Maybe it's about what Carter Page knows.

- Carter Page must have some juicy stuff to tell Mueller

He may not be the only one...

"Taken together, the Flynn and Papadopoulos delays suggest special counsel Robert Mueller is not preparing for the investigation to wrap up before the spring."

"Donald Trump said 4 things that aren't true in a single 47-word tweet

On Saturday morning, before heading out for a round of golf, President Donald Trump tweeted this:

"This memo totally vindicates 'Trump' in probe. But the Russian Witch Hunt goes on and on. Their was no Collusion and there was no Obstruction (the word now used because, after one year of looking endlessly and finding NOTHING, collusion is dead). This is an American disgrace!"

The only difference is that Obama/Clinton are Nixon in this scenario. Comey is G Gordon Liddy. Can't wait for Comey's talk show.

#17 better question is why would one obstruct Justice if the investigation is over nothing?

I can't ever take the opinions seriously of anyone who can't spell coup. Who doesn't know what one is, wouldn't recognize one as it was being conducted by the criminals he supports. No Democrat, liberal or progressive would ever support a coup in this country but the same can not be said for Trump's supporters including 2FRED. If you could get away with it you'd actually support a coup right this minute and, if you were honest to 2 seconds, you'd admit it.

DANNI

Fred2 doesn't understand the consequences of suspending habeas corpus either.

In the hands of a vindictive bastard like Trump the results would be tectonic.

Ted Lieu @tedlieu

On #SuperBowl weekend, here's an analogy: @realDonaldTrump & Nunes needed a hail Mary to stop the Mueller investigation. Instead, what they executed was a dive play that lost yardage. And when the Democratic memo gets released, the replay will show a fumble.

The memo isn't about collusion and doesn't even address collusion so that must be why Grump insists it proves there was no collusion because there was no collusion mentioned.

This is the learned conclusion of our Stable Genius who has the Best Words.

So the memo once again exposes malicious and fraudulent actions by Hillary and her cohorts, yet Dems STILL want to ignore the issue. I get that it doesn't help Trump's case at all but instead of fighting against what someone says, why not fight against the evidence that proves the Democrats are shady? Why does every headline have to be about Trump tweeting something vulgar and not about the Dems being just as crooked as Reps?
