Jeb Bush Calls Marco Rubio Gutless on Immigration

The two former Republican presidential candidates best known for bucking the party on immigration found themselves at odds over the issue Friday. Jeb Bush, the former governor of Florida and an early presidential frontrunner prior to 2016, unloaded on Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) in an interview with USA Today, voicing intense frustration with what he said was a lack of leadership on his Florida colleague's part. "God forbid you actually took on something that was controversial and paid a political price," Bush said. "That's the attitude in D.C. right now. Certainly Sen. Rubio is no different in that regard. Marco is a talented guy and he understands this issue really well, and maybe behind the scenes he's working hard. But at some point, his leadership would be really helpful."

Like these two mean anything.

Awwwww . . . and these two used to be such good friends until Rubio stabbed his BFF in the back.

"Like these two mean anything."

They were the leaders of your party before Trump. They will be again when Trump crashes and burns which he will do soon. Your post really says more about you than them.

The GOP has gone down the deplorable road. It's road that once traveled cannot be left. Low energy JEB! and Lil Marco have no more place to go in the GOP.

Rubio votes with Trump 90% of the time. It's kind of hilarious. Sad, but hilarious.

Er...he's a Republican, he votes with his party. Why is that even comment worthy?

White I do agree, I am also wondering who the Dems have to run too? I just don't see another Obama on the horizon. We need one.

With the exception of his 2004 speech to the Democratic National Convention, few had heard of Obama. And even after that speech, few considered him a "serious" candidate for POTUS.

18 months before the 1992 election Bill Clinton was the governor of Arkansas (Arkansas, for Pete's sake), and very few took his chances for getting the nomination, much less winning, seriously.

The horizon can be very difficult to see.

What you say is true Hans, I wish I was as hopeful. But I will be keeping an open mind and hoping for an up and coming Democrat that I am unaware of today.

That's what we can do.

I'm hoping the the Democrats don't get burned by the purity police in 2020.

That's a justifiable concern. Their best bet is to find someone charismatic and likable who doesn't have much of a track record.

Marco is gutless on everything. He talks a good game on a lot of issues, but when push comes to shove, he never walks the walk.

Jeb might as well call all the republican gutless on immigration. There are very few who have proposed any reasonable solutions.

During the shutdown they were united in calling the Dreamers illegal immigrants even though they had protected status until Trump decided to make them illegal come March.

I think this is a valid point, especially since the Hillary die hards and the Bernie Bros haven't yet made peace within the DNC. We need clear leadership that gets everyone on the same page or 2020 will be another disaster.
